Do use Internet Explorer 7 and wish to be rid of those pesky adverts?

Well you can now. A free Ad Blocker on IE7 Pro was released 4th Feb 09 and is available as a free down load.
I've been using it for the last day & have no more adverts on GR.

The free down load is at.
http://www.ie7pro.com/

At the site
Click on the free down load.

Click on Download Now

Don't bother with entering you e-mail addy in the box. Just click on the "Click Here" link.

In new box click on Run.
The down load only takes second & just follow the prompts.

You may only need to close your browers & re-open to activate it. But I did a restart.
On opening your browser you'll see the little Blue Icon at bottom right of screen, next to your screen size, typically 100%.

Right click on the icon & click on Enable AD Blocker.
If you can't see this in the list. Click on Preferences & in the Modules list & tick Ad Blocker.

You can also enable the flash blocker but this will also block video.
Have found so far the Ad Blocker is suffice. So far I've only found ads showing in Windows Live Hotmail.

Also whenever you open a web site from your favorites, IE Pro7, sets your browser to auto open a new tab.
If you prefer to have websites in seperate windows when you open from favorites. You set this up by;

Right click on the ad blocker icon

Click on Preferences

From the list Click on Base Settings then untick Open New Tab From Favorites.

To activate settings, close the browser & re-open it. And enjoy surfing free of adverts.

Does it work with IE8?

IE7 is now out of date.

Sorry I don't know BrinsleyS

The same question came to my mind, as I was thinking about upgrading to IE8.

Steve.

Steve, thanks.

I tend to use Firefox most of the time with Adblock. I have got IE8 installed so I shall give it a try.

Cheers

hello dunce here :-) with 2 questions :-)
1 - how do I know which version of Internet Explorer I have got? my pc is about 6 months old.
2 - is this a 'safe' thing to download? don't take that the wrong way though!
thanks :-)

Apologies for not replying earlier Maz.

To check which version of IE your running.
At the top of this screen,
Click on Help, then on About Internet Explorer.

Your 2nd question is a very valid one.
My judgment was based on the following;
The web site has a very professional in depth appearance to it.
Nothing flagged up on my Norton security, when either on the site or when I downloaded the software
After installing & running the software. I've done a comprehensive Norton anti-virus etc sweep of my lappy - nothing was flagged up.

Regards,
Steve.

thanks Steve - I now know I have IE7. I've got Norton too and trust it to pick up anything dodgy, so I'll have a go :-)

the ads on here - and the double loading of each page because of them - drives me insane

Thanks, Stevie. Most helpful info. However, I think that I must be one of the only people who doesn't notice any of the ads at all - not even the flashing ones.

If the time should come, though, now I know just where to go and what to do.

thank you Steve :-) fantastic!!! yes, you do have to restart - it doesn't work with just a close and reopen.

made me laugh that the site you download from has got flashing ads on it!

the pages here now load in one go instead of 2 or 3 - so much easier

Thanks all, am glad to have been of help. Budgies' initial query led me to find the IE7Pro site.

You will find the odd site where you'll need to turn off the ad blocker. ie at Yell.com. If you do a search with the ad blocker on, you won't see the results. lol

Budgie how did you get on with IE7Pro with IE8?

Hi,
I've just come across this thread. I'm also wondering if that IE7Pro download will work with IE8?
