Hi Island

Do you live in London? I used to be in Walthamstow so it was only 20mins to the show, but am now in sunny Suffolk!

If you want more info about the show, go to the Twisted Thread website and see whats on offer - it's got everything you can imagine and more besides, and the showcases of people's work are wonderful. (Do I sound like an advert?)

Honestly, it's just a lovely day out if you are interested in anything creative, and I used to prefer this show to Olympia, although I love that as well!

If you're not tempted enough, then I hope someone else will be as it's a shame to waste a ticket when there are so many crafty people out there!

If not, I will just stand on the steps outside and wave my ticket about!!

Claire

It's a wonderful show, with something for everyone who loves creative sewing etc.

I couldn't go last year as we had just moved, but I am driving down from Suffolk with my comfy shoes, shopping list and a bit of spending money! Heaven!!!

Morning Island and Everyone, Strange isn't it. As soon as I saw Claire's posting, I thought of you for the ticket. Why don't you go. I would if I was on the doorstep.

Would anyone like a ticket for the Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace in October?

I have a spare ticket as my friend can't go now. I am going on the 12th but it is valid for any day 11th-14th.
I originally put this on a cross stitch thread, but no takers as yet!

Ann, I use either the brass templates or the new 6x6 plastic ones, smooth a layer of paste over the design, lift off carefully then sprinkle fine glitter and leave to dry xx

That is when I wish I could crochet or still did knitting (or had time to) as I love wools and yarns).

Morning Ann - what a dismal one it is too!

Julia and I have 'talked' crochet on threads for quite a while now and no-one has joined in. Plenty look in but don't want to join in.

Morning Linda, Island has beet me to it. I have just been on that site, and there are 20 pages of patterns. Please remember to tick that box that you want crochet patterns, and put PONCHOS in the search box.

Good Luck

Hi Linda

It's nice to 'meet' another crochetter :-)

There's lots of knit/crochet patterns on Ravely, many of them are free to download.

You need to register but it is so worth it for the thousands of patterns and ideas, people are so generous :-D

You might also like these dear little feet cosies :-D

Morning Julia and Islamd
I too do some crochet and have been making small blankets for the special baby unit at Royal Berks Hospital since last February when my grandson was born. I have also made some small hats for them too.

I now have a second grandson born last week, but have mainly been doing the knitting so far. I gave them a shawl, which is in 3ply wool, very fine and quite complex.

My daughter wants me to make her a poncho type coat to wear when carrying her son in a baby sling. But having trouble finding a pattern.

Have a good daY EVERYONE.

Will send some photos soon Ann.

AnninGlos Report 23 Sep 2012 22:33

Well one of the problems Jill is that I haven't used stencils. Are you saying you cover the stencil with pollyfilla and it dries and comes away from the stencil? See I really am green sometimes.
I shall look forward to it. :-D

Island, thanks for that, I was hoping that Julia might venture on here soon to read the crochet posts. :-)

Sorry Ann :-)
I use a tube of ready mixed poly filler with my dreamweaver stencils, lots cheaper and when covered in glitter look very pretty, I know which card to send you for Christmas :-)
I have a few Croco crackle pastes that I also smear over the metal stencils but a tube of filler works just as well and cheaper for me to use in my classes.

I have found a crochet hook from 35 years ago, now need to find some time :-D
