There are a lot in that area Moonbi, such a beautiful blue and all about the same size. Maybe it is a particular variety. I was told it was a Jacarinda so hope I am right. Not that it is on my avatar at the moment.

That sounds really interesting Moonbi, I would love to see the finished result and instructions. There are so many lovely napkins (serviettes) around. :-)

moonbi Report 26 May 2012 01:23

yesterday I was introduced to something fun to do with paper napkins.

its a bit like decoupage. So I went and chose a set of paper napkins with a lovely doggies design; from the local gift shop.

I already had some small unpainted canvasses that my navy son left here, so I am carefully glaze gluing the paper on one of those, for a wall mounted picture.

Its 6x6 size. i'll post a picture when I finish.
freezing cold and wet here the last two days. take care all, hope you have a good trip home Anne

You must be having fun with your first projects;
Can we have a look?

Pammy, thanks for that website. it gives a lot more ideas and info to inspire me.

Ladies, what things keep you inspired for your crafts?
mine are going to classes, and looking at new ideas in magazines.

moonbi Report 20 May 2012 01:31

on wednesday I had the first of four 3 hour lessons, for the new quilt the 5 of us are making.
Teacher gave us a printout of the instructions and a photo of the quilt top.

Lesson 1 was cutting and sewing the dresden plate and the backing that it is stitched to.

My home work for the next lesson is to stitch the dresden plate to the panel, cut and sew together 48, 3 & 1/2 inch squares for the first border, and cut out all the applique flowers.

its been a very foggy morning here, so I hope we get to see the sun today!

Thank you all for your messages about my aunt. The minister did a nice grave side service, and it ended with a tape of Harry Secombe singing Amazing Grace. it was a sunny day and an eagle was soaring over head as the coffin was lowered.
I thought that was a good omen.

Sounds good but as we only get home from here late the night before I think that is a no from me. Look forward to hearing about it though.

My Alison has football training in Stratford until midday but hopefully I'll be able to call in on the way back to Shirley.

If anyone fancies going, with luck we'll meet up.
