Hi

the sun is shining :-D

OH had to see the eye surgeon today 'cos his vision has become cloudy ........ he has to have a Yag Laser Capsulotomy done, right eye on October 5, left eye at a later date.

The artificial lens used after cataract surgery has a lining called the capsule which can become cloudy or wrinkled weeks or years later. The laser makes a hole in the back of a clouded one to restore vision. It's an outpatient procedure which will take a total of an hour ......... then I become the responsible person again :-D

Then I think I can stop reading out the update news briefs that run along the bottom of the TV screen on some shows :-D

I know, it doesn't have many posters anymore.

How is Aimee this morning? I hope you enjoyed your day together.

It was Eves first day back at school yesterday, apparently it was " great". That is good as before, all she would say was "boring"

I had an opticians appointment yesterday, but mercifully my eyes haven't changed much, so I don't need new glasses. I was dreading the hassle I always have with the lenses.

I have just about finished the washing and putting everything away after the holiday. Things are getting back to normal, although I just booked some train tickets last night to go and collect her for the October half term holiday

I have a hacking cough which I managed to acquire all by myself this time. I had to miss out on the last day of activities as I felt so ill, which was a shame. I have been left with a chesty cough, which I could do without

Of course not Sylvia :-D

It is about 23 degrees here which is hot enough for me. We took Eve to have a hair braid put in this morning, then she had a pony ride. After that we played on the artificial beach on the side of the lake. Esme spent ages padding in the water. She can't stand up by herself ,so her poor mum has to bend over to hold her hands.

We then had a very nice lunch in the pancake restaurant and have come back for a siesta before we all go swimming this afternoon. It would be better if Esme had a asleep during the day, but she doesn't.

I hope you all have a wonderful time and the weather stays fine, Linda.

Thank you for passing on the lovely email. We know Tec's friends meant a lot to him but now his daughter knows how much he meant to us.

Stay cool in the heat, Sylvia....it can be exhausting.

Hello |Emma, it is nice to se you

I had a nice email from Tec's daughter thanking me for the cheque which I sent for the donations. She said that she will be seeing the vicar next week, so will tell me what the grand total was after that.

I sent her a booklet with all the comments from the various threads, she replied as follows
"It was lovely to read the very touching comments from all of Dads online friends. I know that you all meant a great deal to him and I can not stress enough how important your friendships were for him, particularly in the last few years."

I have been packing for our jaunt tomorrow, the car is jammed full. Eve is being handed over to her parents this afternoon after three weeks away, I am sure they will all be pleased to see each other. They are staying in a hotel overnight before going on to meet us at Centre Parcs tomorrow, so it is a bit of an adventure for her

don't catch cold, Sue :-D

It's a little bit cooler here today, and there were lots of dark clouds around this morning, although they have all gone away now.

I'm reading a lot too....it's cold and has been wet so there is nothing better than to curl up with coffee and a good book.

Esme is doing so well....I've seen the signing as Aimee started to use it when she very young. She's forgotten it now.

Our youngest son has had a consultation with an immigration lawyer as this will make things much easier to enter the U.S. He has been quite down but is much better now he spoken to the lawyer and found he can afford it.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 27 Aug 2016 04:21

that is such good news about Esme! She seems to have come on in leaps and bounds.

another book finished today!! It was even hotter than yesterday ............ I didn't even go out for coffee this afternoon :-(

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 26 Aug 2016 23:12

Well the reading is a good thing Sylvia, less clutter around once you finish them.

I have spent the week returning the house to normal after Eves visit. Now I am starting to make piles of things to take to Centre Parcs on Monday. It is self catering, although we do eat out quite a bit. That means we need to take lots of food and cooking stuff. It is very well equipped, but there is nothing in the way of food. So everything from oil,s&p, coffee, all you need has to go. I take all of that to make it easier for my daughter.

Esme needs to go to bed fairly early so we will probably be cooking more than we normally would, or ordering in the takeaway.

We were talking to Esme on Skype tonight, she is starting to communicate well. She can't talk, but she knows lots of signs now. Where a normal toddler would say mine, she signs E for her name. She is doing really well with the Makaton signing.
She also loves her music on the iPad She has lots of signed and action songs which she joins in with, she is very good at them.

I've just spent all afternoon and most of the evening sitting in the cool north-facing living room, with a fan full on.

This south-facing room has cooled a little bit, not much. The fan is just moving the hot air around!

The fan is on in the bedroom ........ OH is sleeping in another room, we find it better when it is like this! At least we don't keep each other awake as we try to find cool spots!

"They" seem to be indicating that we'll have a couple of cooler days over the weekend, but then hot weather returns!

Still .............. I'm managing to finish reading books that have been on the go for months!!

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 25 Aug 2016 20:07

I had the fan on last night as well. It had switched off when I woke in the night. I should have put it on again, but instead I took ages to go back to sleep

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 25 Aug 2016 19:55

they were correct here ................ it's already hotter than yesterday.

This might well be my last time on the computer today!

I didn't go to sleep until 2 am last night, it was so hot, even with the fan blowing right over me (I turned it to stationary instead of oscillate!)

I can't imagine Drew wanting to be a princess :-D

If a bat got in, you would do what I did and leave it to OH

Just to please you, it is a horrible drizzly day today. OH has gone walking. I have been working on the computer all morning doing cinema admin, so my head is spinning

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 25 Aug 2016 11:38

Oh for goodness sake ladies....it's freezing here after some lovely mild days.

We have Drew for a sleepover...pupil free day for his school. I'm not complaining :-D. He doesn't want to be a princess or do crafts. He's 12 now I'll have you know ;-)

We have bats around in summer. I don't what I'd do if one flew the house :-0

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 25 Aug 2016 03:50

it's very hot again here, and it will be hotter on Thursday and Friday before a cool change comes in

I'll be in the living room with my book again :-D
