I will pass on the messages

We have just been outside for the firework display, it was tremendous, especially the finale of course. It is just like being inside the display, a bit off putting when all of the bits are clattering down around you

Hello Jem, nice to see you

I have just had a message from Tec's daughter letting me know that he has been admitted to hospital because his breathing is very poor. I haven't said much, but his health has been deteriorating noticeably over the past few weeks.

I hope that they will be able to help him and he will be able to come home again, but perhaps we need to keep him in out thoughts more than ever.

I will let everyone know whenever his daughter gets in touch

I was thinking about you this morning Sue.

It has been nice weather all week, but this morning it is sluicing it down. Typical as it is Picnic in the Park today. The big charity fund raiser in the grounds of the hall next to the house. It ends with the. Big fire work display over the house. I was remembering the smouldering rocket on your hire car

Tonight the tribute bands are Ultimate Elton, followed by Ultimate Bowie, they will be just as loud as if we were there of course

I am on my way back on the train now. I had a nice day playing princesses yesterday. We tried to go out in the garden, but the grass way ankle deep, so I ended up cutting it twice, and also took a huge amountofvineweed out of the borders. I honestly don't know why they have a garden as it is only OH and me who ever do any work in it

I walked Eve to school this morning before I left,so that was nice

we have cooler temperatures, showers, and the rain is down ........... so they are very hopeful that the fire is in its last stages. There is no smell of smoke other than in the immediate area.

They get at these peat fires very quickly ........ hence to water bombers and water bucket-carrying helicopters as soon as they realised how fast it was moving.

They still working there of course, and the highway is still closed as it is very close to the fire, smoke is till around, and the firefighters need the road for staging and safety.

Just have to hope now that it didn't get too far into the roots, and that the peat was not too dry underground.

SueMaid Report 5 Jul 2016 07:53

Oh dear but that's what mothers do. Eve of course will love having you there. I'm pleased to hear the Esme is doing well. Every bit of progress is to be celebrated.

A peat bog fire doesn't good, Sylvia...nor the smell of it :-(

The grandkids are on school holidays this week and next. We have them three days this week and not all next week. They really don't need looking after these days - they do their own thing.

As long as the old lady does :-D

Eve stayed up to see me and immediately started playing games with me.

She has a new clock and was checking with her mum exactly when she was allowed to come into grandmas bed in the morning.Apparently 7.30 is the allotted time - we shall see

Oh dear, fires in peat bogs are just about impossible to put out

I am hurtling down the country as we speak. The worst thing is that I have to take an old lady to the hospital tomorrow, so OH is going to have to do it, he seems quite worried :-D

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 4 Jul 2016 16:56

oh dear!

Safe trip.

What great news about Esme though ........... she's really coming along now xxx

It is cloudy today, after a lovely sunny weekend.

But there is also a lot of smoke around ............ there is a huge raised peat bog just south of us, about 6,000 acres in size. It is a Nature Conservancy.

A small fire started there yesterday, then the wind got up and the fire just moved very rapidly from about 100 sq feet to about 140 acres in size in 2 hours .......... 100 firefighters, 5 air tankers and 4 helicopters with buckets. One highway and another major road were closed yesterday afternoon and are still closed today ............ traffic chaos at rush hour this morning!!

I could faintly smell the peaty smoke when I woke in the middle of the night.

"Mum, Eve's teacher is on strike tomorrow. Her father was supposed to be looking after her, but he can't now because he has some interviews to do. I can't find anyone to look after her. Can you come down to London this afternoon?

Of course dear"

Grrrrrrrrrrrr :-| :-| :-| :-|

I am glad you have some :-D

It is the start of another week and the weather looks better thank goodness.

Eve enjoyed her Star Wars party on Saturday, they had four Princess Leia's. She was happily playing with some of her presents when we spoke on the video link last night.

Esme was being very chatty in her own way, although she can't say any words yet. She had excelled herself at lunchtime and had actually eaten half a jar of baby food, plus other bits and pieces. She was putting her tongue out to gather the food in and really swallowing it. That is tremendous progress, now she is getting the hang of eating, hopefully she will go from strength to strength. She will be three at the end of the month, so starting to eat so early is good for a Costello child. All she needs to do now is to learn to walk. Her core strength is getting better, she can take steps around the furniture on her own. She just wants to be held up to walk though which is dreadful for my daughters back. They are trying to just hold her by her arm, but she gets their hand and puts it back on her waist.

Still she is making good progress and so far doesn't have some of the severe complications or cancer that some of the others have. I was just thinking last night that her features are really changing, she is starting to look more grown up, but it is noticeable that she doesn't look like her family. Instead she is an absolute clone of the other Costello children, they all look so alike
