Morning all,
Weather glorious so no more moaning from me. Glad to hear Bridget arrived safely, think she flew with the Irish lot...RyanAir, say no more. Shouldn't judge though as have never flown with them.
Have just finished a great pile of ironing, changed the bed etc. so am treating myself to a cuppa and an hour on the family tree.

Val in SA,
Hope Jimmy is feeling a bit more chipper. Why can't we just grow old without having all these problems? I know people like Bridget would be redundant but we deserve a bit of peace as we age. Ah well c'est la vie!

Enjoy the day
Frances

PS: Fish & chips for 4.50, how lucky are you Ann? We paid over 20euros for fish & chips for two and a couple of glasses of beer last week!!! And it wasn't anywhere posh either.

Goodmorning,

Overcast and humid again to-day - oh where is the rain??

Thanks Frances, Jimmy is much better to-day so he is much happier.
Getting old is not for the faint-hearted!!!!

Our Ladies Group made about R1500 (£125 I think, doesn;t sound much in £s!) yesterday with the sale of pancakes. Next time we must have more pancake mixture.

Hope you all have a lovely day.

Take care,

Val in SA.

Good morning all,

There is a heavy mist here this morning can't see the sea, so I think when it lifts it is going to be very hot.

My washing is out so I hope it dries quickly.

Bridget, at one of the supermarkets on Saturday the first of the Christmas decorations were out, no music though!

Time flies, we have been married for 52 years to-day, when I think about it the years seem to have gone in a flash. Will celebrate at a later date.

Will be doing as little as possible to-day!

Have a wonderful day.

Take care.

Congratulations and best wishes Val and Jimmy on your wedding anniversary - we will have clocked up 42 yeres this December and I agree with you do not know were the time has gone.
Had a lovely weekend - weather glorious - went in the sea yesterday and we had bbq's Saturday and Sunday night . sat out with the moon and stars - wonderful.
On another note went shopping on Saturday and could not spend hubby's money - saw nothing I liked - so he still owes me a birthday present !!!
Booked our flights yesterday for our trip to UK - flying to Liverpool on 2nd December to see son and his wife, 4th December motoring down to Nottingham to see grandchildren - hopefully - then on to West Midlands to stay with some friends - then on to Evesham on Saturday morning for Wedding at posh hotel - then Sunday down to Cornwall to stay 3 days with my mom and sister then flying bacj from Bristol on 10th December. I expect the time will fly by but I am looking forward to the trip not been to UK for 3 years.
Well must get my mop and bucket out got friends coming over for lunch. Enjoy your Monday one and all.
Love Mary xx

Thanks for the good wishes Mary.

It sounds as if you will have a busy time when you visit the UK but you will enjoy it I'm sure. Strange how nothing seems to say "buy me" when one is looking to spend husband's money!!. You will just have to keep looking.

The mist has lifted and it is indeed quite warm.

Enjoy lunch with your friends.

Just a few words from me,

Another cloudy warm day over here and the sea this morning was almost navy blue.

Thanks for the good wishes Frances, we spent a quiet day at home, will go out for a celebratory meal at the week end.

We have friends from London arriving on the 24th, although they stay in self-catering accommodation they spend a lot of time with us. We always enjoy their visits. During the last week of their stay we will be going down to the Western Province, and if we are lucky we will be able to see some whales.

Have a good day.

Hello everyone,

Glad to see that we are still chatting away,

the wether here has been rain and mist so I could not se the sea yesterday morning when I opened the curtains, but whilst it has rained for most of the day it has stopped now and the sky has cleared. i haven't had an oppotunity to explore the area yet but the country side is beautiful, England really is a "green and pleasant land".

I am going out to dinner tonight with my boss Rob and by all accounts it is a good place to eat. I told him that i do not like to drive far when it is dark so he said, "come by taxi and claim the cost,,,,,,", so I have booked the taxi and so now can have a G and T and some wine!!

OH has told mme that he will be here at the end of the month so my life is looking good.

Please take care of yourselves and I will try o get online again tomorrow

Hello all,

Nice to see you back Bridget. Hope you enjoyed your dinner last night.
I guess the days till the end of the end of the month will drag.

It's a real summer's day here to-day, quite hot although there is a slight wind blowing.

Just been doing mundane things like the weekly shopping, nothing exciting happening.

On the menu for lunch to-day is meat loaf and veggies.

Take care.

Hi everyone,
Good to hear from you Bridget, pity you're missing all this lovely weather.
Have done quite a bit of housework today as friends are coming tomorrow with their 5 month old grandson, just for a drink before lunch, so thought I had better make an effort. Quite looking forward to it actually as I really like babies, can't stand children, but babies are lovely. Mind you they usually yell and scream when I pick them up!!!
Lovely autumnal day today and quite hot, so will probably take my book and my lunch outside.
Enjoy your day

A grey day here and not doing much at all except maybe making some Christmas cards. Glad to see that you have settled in Bridget and I hope you enjoyed your meal, also hope the time will fly until your OH joins you as it must be a bit lonely. How is the job going?

Good morning,

It's one of Winnie the Pooh's blustery days here not very pleasant.

Frances, hope you had a good time with the baby. babies are so cute I also just love them. I don't have grandchildren and have always made do with my brother's grandchildren.

How's your work going Bridget?

Ann it's good to be able to make your own cards, my efforts were very
amateurish but I am still trying.

Well it's off to our Ladies Group meeting this afternoon and that's about it for to-day.

Take care

Morning all,
Had a great time yesterday with our friends and their grandson. What a gorgeous baby and so well-behaved. He slept during lunch which was a bonus and then of course the Spanish lady in the restaurant took him to show him to the chef and the rest of the staff, so refreshing, wouldn't hppen in an English restaurant would it?
Weather still good so having a lazy today.
Enjoy

Hello Folk,

How's everyone to-day?

About 15 fishing boats came into the bay yesterday afternoon to shelter from the wind which by the way is still quite strong to-day.

Got the paint this morning to spruce up my garden gnomes which are looking rather sad. I will get that job done to-morrow.

I have written to the SA Defence Force for my father's WW2 Service Record which I hope will give details of where he was imprisoned during the war. He never spoke much about those years. I hope they are a little speedier than our Home Affairs Office which can take up to a year to send a copy of a birth certificate!!

Have a fantastic weekend.

Dear me where is everyone? All busy.

Cloudy and cool to-day with a forecast of rain

Our electricity went off this morning, unsheduled just another breakdown. . This is the second time this week, and our electricity provider is about to increase our electricity charges by a whopping 53%! I hink we will have to use candles for lighting and gas for cooking!!

Late yesterday afternooon my daughter found a kitten in her garden which had been shot with a pellet gun. She took it to the vet who removed the pellet and kept the kitten in overnight. My daughter was quite distressed when she phoned to tell me about it. One of the vet's assistants has taken the kitten home until they can find the owner. I really can't understand how anyone can be so cruel.

Bye for now.

Picked up mom from Valencia airport a week yesterday. Dropped my sister and her fella at their hotel and went to the villa - had some lunch and Paul went off to work. Was unpacking and putting mom's clothes away and she was flapping about money - she always insists on giving Paul and I some euros . she then went to sit on the end of the bed and missed and landed on the floor !!! Well, I tried all different ways to pick her up - bought a chair in for her to hold - she tried to get on her knees - I had my arms under her armpits and I could not get her up. So finally I phoned Paul who came home and we managed to get her up. Luckily she was ok - apart from being annoyed with herself.
Thursday we had a quiet day just sitting around chatting - the weather was glorious as it has bven all week until today when I have so much washing to do and yes, it is raining.
Friday was a fiesta day so we had planned a day out but when Paul got up he came into the bedroom to tell me he could hear water running outside. Well to be truthful it was pouring out of a downpipe. We soon found out the main water pipe into the villa had burst so the water had to be turned off. Being a fiesta day there were no shops open so we packed up what we needed and came back to our house. The next day Paul went off in search of a suitable length of pipe to repair the broken piece. My mom then decided she would shower and wash her hair. I always hover around the bathroom just in case - good job I did as she somehow managed to fall again. Thankfully Paul arrived at the same time so we managed to puck her up. She must have had her guardian angel with her because she had not really hurt herself - although a couple of days later she had a lovely black eye.
So back up the mountain we went and Paul managed to repair the broken pipe so we had water.
Monday we had a lovely half day in Calpe walking along the sea front taking it in turns to push the wheelchair - me on the flat Paul did the hills !!!
Mom is now safely back home in Cornwall but insists she had a lovely holiday. We are going over to UK early December for a wedding so will be seeing Mom for a few days afterwards - about 7 weeks time.
This morning as we were unpacking the car the kitchen man arrived and said he had had a phone call the kitchen doors had arrived - see you later he said. Well that was 3 hours ago and still no sign of him - I just wonder if my kitchen will ever be finished. Oh well, one day I suppose.

I have put this on General then thought I should have added it on BB's Diary . so I c and p it on to here.

Hope you are all ok - anyone heard from Bridget ?

Love Mary xx

Oh you are all such great people keeping this thread alive. Thank you

i have managed to read through most of the newer input and t=you all seem to be having a great time even though there have been some incidents such as mothers going back home with a black eye!

The home is in a delightful setting and the residents and staff are all very pleasant and as a bonus most of the staff have been here for a long time.

Have been trying to write my CV as I cannot find my previous one and it is needed for my registration as the Home Manager....it is driving me mad trying to remember dates etc.

I will try to write about the area over the weekend as it is a beautiful English village that I am working in.

Take care everyone, I will be back soon
