I'm impressed too!

Dermot Report 25 Oct 2009 16:50

So, what about the expression: "Go straight on at the roundabout"?

PatriciaAnn

PatriciaAnn Report 25 Oct 2009 17:44

I went around town today and I popped into soem book shops. I didn't buy a single book, not one!

There is a popular conception that urban speech is faster than rural.

Devon speak puts the word "to" at the end of a question.
Where's that becomes Where's that to?

That's Dorset-speak, too :-)

Dermot

Dermot Report 26 Oct 2009 19:03

Prior to the Roman invasion, there was no word for 'kiss'.

PatriciaAnn

I've only ever won a raffle once in my life. Unfortunately, the prize was a bottle of scotch; and, as I was only 14, my dad purloined it.

I love Church summer fetes & I lie occasionally.

PatriciaAnn

PatriciaAnn Report 26 Oct 2009 21:45

Church summer fetes are to be avoided!
I've had my share of them!
The last fete I went to I bought some brass goblets. I haven't used them!
I'll think I'll put them in the bin!
The best thing about Fetes are the book stalls but I don't buy books anymore!

I used to love Church fetes & bazaars when I was a child. Age and experience have taught me, however, that one can have too many crocheted egg cosies, and bath cubes:)

We have mini-roundabouts that you can drive straight over. Isn't that interesting?

Dermot

I have just had a bacon sandwich.....

Sydneybloke

Sydneybloke Report 27 Oct 2009 23:40

Bacon sandwich ... is that a slice of bread between two slices of bacon?

Dermot

Dermot Report 28 Oct 2009 07:20

The toaster was invented before sliced bread.
