I presume you're talking about Larkrise?

Yes I thought it was great, so easy to watch and a nice change from all the usual rubbish on t.v. But did you think Dorcas spoke louder than the last series? she set off louder, but gradually went back to her whispers...still worth it though.....

To be honest, I didn't notice. She does whisper, I just think its her character. Don't know why.

I love this series.

I think my very favourite episode is the Christmas one from 2008. The one with the ghost of the girl. It made my Christmas! All that snow! Not so sure about the snow now we have it for real, though.

I love Minnie, too. I'd love to have her to help me around the house!

Thomas and Margaret are funny, too, though you do feel sorry for them at times!

I hope they are successful in their 'endeavours'!

I recorded it so we could watch Wild at Heart which we both love to watch, and then was able to watch Lark Rise in peace later and save it so o.h. can put it on a disc for me of this whole series.

It's wonderful to watch it now I know how closely my relatives were linked to the Timms (Timmins) family.

"The characters, villages and towns featured in Flora’s
books are based on real people and places, though she
took care to alter their names. Flora herself becomes
Laura and her brother Edwin is Edmund; Flora disguises
Juniper Hill by calling it Lark Rise, the name of the
biggest field near her childhood home. Fordlow the
‘mother’ village is really Cottisford, while the fictitious
town of Candleford is a combination of Banbury,
Bicester and Buckingham. She largely bases Candleford
Green on her childhood memories of Fringford, where
she worked in the village post office from 1891 to
1897. In many ways village life had changed very little
in the decades before 1876 when she was born and
her recollections and reflections offer us insight into this
period before the agricultural depressions of the late
1800’s. Flora wrote stories and poems for many years
but it was not until 1945 that the Lark Rise trilogy was
published."

I have been to Fringford when in around 1960, and probably to the Post office where I bought stamps for postcards I had written to friends. I was staying at my aunt's home on the Bicester to Buckingham road and my Gran lived at Buckingham altho she lived when young, as did my Dad and all our ancestors, at Gawcott, a little village about 3 miles south of Buckingham.
I looked back at Flora's tree and saw that her grandfather was also a Stone Mason who lived at one time at Gawcott road, Buckingham so could well have taught my great grandfather the trade. The dates match up. My GtGrandfather ended up working as a Stone Mason who worked on many big houses and buildings, one of which was Liverpool Cathedral and also Waddesdon Manor. I am sure Albert Timms (Robert Timmins) and my Gt Grandfather and my Great Uncle who was also a Stone Mason must have known one another and maybe worked together too.
