Any information on records prior to 1837 is much more difficult to find than the later records. FreeBMD has a section named FreeCEN, although the transcribing is not yet finished, but a lot of it has been done.
Another place to look is Familysearch.com

Have you been on the Trying To Find board on this site?
If you know the county of origin, you may be able to contact their records office and they could have a section which searches old land records, wills, etc.

Hi Georgie.
You usually have to check parish record in the area.

There is a helpful site www.familysearch.org which is free. You can check baptisms and marriages. Use International Genealogical Index usually called IGI when you go onto family search. The most useful records are those that have been extracted from records so will show a batch no.

Less helpful are those submitted by members because they dont back up the information

You can visit a Latter Day Saints family research in your area and look at the records on fische which they will order in for you if they dont have the ones you need. A small charge is made for this service.

Happy hunting

Some villages have their own websites with parish records ... always worth a try

And depending where in the county you are looking there might be info on line.

NW Kent has a lot of parish records on line - Cityark - covers Medway towns and Gravesend and surrounding villages. I expect there are other places that have much the same info.

Also, people on here may have info on various parishes etc. so always worth asking.

unfortunately some parish registers may not survive anymore for that period. It depends where you are looking. Good luck :)
