Jean (Monmouth) Report 22 Dec 2010 19:11

""nd Dec 7.07 pm. Temp outside-0.5. inside, 14.9. Am I glad I dont have to go out.
Had a little snow here this morning but it didnt stick. Went from Monmouth to Abergavenny this afternoon for a hospital appointment and the roads were clear all the way, even the side road through Mitchel Troy that we took on the way back. Journey was quite pleasant as little or no traffic on the roads. Went early, and was coming out of the hospital having been seen before the time of my proper appointment.

On low ground near Channel coast...........

Nearly 6.30pm and gardens are virtually snow-free after another day of thawing.
Snow left on pavements froze overnight as did a fine film of water on side roads, but we are very lucky compared with some of you.

Just poked my head round the door and it is still coming down here, but not as bad as where you are. Am hoping to get to the shops tomorrow and pick up my turkey in Hawarden on the way back..........so hoping Chester will not be too bad........otherwise I will try Broughton Park retail.

Wrap up warm Libby!!

Please think of me Ann in the morning, freezing my bits off while I wait for the bus(es) that wont turn up. for Llandudno. lol. Only the 14/15 were running last Saturday and there is no way I will drive.

Just checked the cameras on the A55 and it was down to one lane from Conwy to Pen., Conwy to Colwyn Bay direction didn't look quite as bad.

At least no buses have crashed on Town Ditch today, it was very earie in Conwy last Friday with no traffic.

No local shops have any bread in but I did get some rolls (we have bread in the freezer. Stupidly OH (who makes the bread) didn't tell me that the flour was low so now we don't have any bread flour Grrr!!
Sleet here this morning and temp above freezing now (just).

Just along the coast from Klara.......

It's been snowing steadily here all evening ontop of icy snow.
During the day, the A. roads were OK for driving, but side roads hazardous.
Buses managed to run on to estates for much of the day. Tomorrow that might not be possible....?
With more snow forecast, I made an early trip to daughter's and then to T**co.
Supermarket was well stocked and fairly quiet. No sign of panic buying like we had when the first lot of snow arrived in early December.

Just outside Dover

Been snowing here heavily again since around 1800, not good as none of the stuff on the ground had cleared. Not very happy as at work tonight (2200/0700), just glad have got the 4x4 however to get from where I am I have got to go down one hill or another and then come back up it to get home in the morning! On the plus side only live 5 minutes from Tesco so can always pop out for bits if we run out.

Jude didnt tell you she and Vic risked coming out to us this afternoon, a matter of about two and half miles, but it was very heavy snow this afternoon. It is now 0.1c out there.

maggiewinchester Report 20 Dec 2010 16:23

Compacted snow/ice on the pavements where I live - and the bus isn't running for the 3rd day .
A half hour walk to work took me an hour - the worst bit was the first third of a mile where there has been no gritting. Once I was in town it was easy!
Went out at 12.30pm to get a 'secret santa', it was snowing.
Arrived back in the office at 1pm - to be told we were being sent home!! :o)
Eventually left at 2pm, arrived back at 3pm - exhausted!! Wet snow laying on icy pavements is no joke!
Not sure if I'll go in tomorrow. Trying to stay upright on ice, with torn cartilidge in my knee gets quite painful.
