I bet it looked really pretty Jo, By the time she is 6 or 7 everyone will be heartily sick of pink Lol!!! My Granddaughter didn't grow out of it until she was 8!

Sylvia I will be sending out the details for Jean later this evening, as you said it is lovely to welcome a new member, but I am afraid her birthday is not in May!! Good idea to cover coat hangers, the clothes always slip off.

Birthday cake turned out lovely, did a rectangle 4 layer base, layered with cream and strawberry jam and covered in cream. On top was a large number 1 with her name on, it was all decorated in butterflies I had made from icing paste, it was in pink at my dil's request.

Hi all,
It would be nice to be able to welcome a new member to our group, so Jean, how about it?
I posted 3 birthday cards today and hope that they all reach the "girls" in time for their birthdays. I see there is only one more in April and May none at all.
Today Johan and I went to look at a new sheltered accommodation apartment, but were only able to see the dining rom. We thought it was too quiet around there. We like it peaceful, but this was the back of beyond!
How was your cake Jo?
We have had no sun here today and a nasty cold wind was blowing. No, it is not summer yet, even though it is Spring.
Tonight the clocks go on an hour!
Does anybody, like me, have a collection of wooden clothes hangers. I think at one time dry cleaners used to supply them as I have several with London cleaners addresses in them.
I have been using up oddments of knitting wool and covering these hangers with a crotchet covering so that my clothes don't slide off and don't get marked with
these hangers.
Have a nice evening.

I did have a go at iris folding but not for a while. They are very attractive.
I hope the vertigo is better now, it is a shame they can't seem to find a cure for it. Jean (On the Just Jean thread) suffers badly with it too perhaps you should start a thread, somebody may be able to offer help.

Ann, thanks about the iris folded cards, haven't made any for a while but I do love making them and they are always very popular, made 20 for a charity raffle and then the person that won them ordered 20 more!!

Sylvia I have made an oblong cake with a number one on top made in a type of victoria sponge but slightly heavier to make it easier to ice. Like to make fruit cake but no one seems to want them except at Christmas! Have put it in my freezer and will ice it on Saturday morning whilst it is still slightly frozen makes it easier to ice.

Spent the afternoon in bed today as felt really dizzy, this vertigo makes me feel 90 as well Sylvia!! Took extra tablets and it went around tea time, so made the cakes when I got up. Going to bed now as off to Northampton to look after grandson tomorrow.

No, I didn't make Johan a birthday cake. I bought some diepfreeze cakes. I'm afraid I am rather slow with everything at the moment and still have a lot of work with myself. Today I cleaned out the water trough of my apneu machine which was badly in need of a a clean. I cleaned my mask a couple of days ago.
Before I get into bed I have to contend with mask etc., catheter, elastic stockings. I know I will get quicker, but at the moment feel like 90!
Because it is such glorious weather Johan and I have decided to go into town tomorrow with the taxi. Me, with my scootmoble and Johan with his foldable scootmobile.
Hope the cake turns out ok Jo, you are so clever. What sort of cake do you make?

Well I have finally finished my granddaughter's birthday card, not sure if I like it but I think it is OK. Just started making the decorations for her cake, DIL wants it to be decorated with butterflies so have be making them out of sugar paste and painting them hoping they dry OK. Will be making the cake tomorrow and putting it in the freezer to make it easier to cover in icing, will finish decorating it on Saturday morning.

Sylvia hope that Johan has had a lovely birthday, did you make him a cake?

Ann will send you some pictures by email love the cards on the blog they are very professional put mine to shame.

Lovely weather here again today, lets hope tomorrow is the same.

Sylvia 55 years, wow, that is an avhievement to be proud of. I hope that the catheter solves your problems, what a pity it has taken so long.

Jo, We will all be interested to know what card you finally make. It would be good it you could send me a photo for the blog. Have you looked on there lately, lots of good ideas for cards.

Sylvia, it is half finished, but not sure if I like it or not, so could very well be making another one tomorrow!! DIL still has not made her mind up about the birthday cake, I need to get a new square tin so I hope she makes her mind up very soon.

Take care

First of all apologies to those I hadn't thanked for sending me best wishes when I was in hospital. I seem to forget everything these days, but we are getting better - I hope.
Today I saw my first bumble bee. I cannot remember what temperature it is when they first come out, does anybody else know? It was a lovely big black fat bumble bee and was trying to get in my sitting room as the evening was drawing in and then it is colder.
I had planned to make some cards today, but I should never make plans because they never work out.
I was so slow at first this morning but when I eventually got moving I made some apple turnovers for by the coffee and then decided to make a chicken curry. Everything turned out ok but I had no time to make cards or do some sewing - long overdue!
Jo, have you made your granddaughter's birthday card now?
Sylvia with love and best wishes to you all

Sylvia it makes me so cross when 'we' see specialists that should be good at their job but instead treat us so badly. As you have had the procedure before you know what it should be like!! Hopefully the catheter will ease your problems.
Congratulations on your 55th wedding anniversary such a long time, thought I was dong well at 40 years and also say Happy Birthday to Johan from me I would never have thought thats how old he was, he looks so fit and active.
The blue tits are nesting in my boxes already as you say it is lovely to watch them going back and forth to the boxes have a Jenny Wren nesting as well, love it when the little ones fledge and start hunting for food in the pots on my patio.

Off now to make granddaughters birthday card, no ideas yet, but I am sure it will come once I start.

Enjoy whats left of the weekend.

Here I am again. I went to the urologist last Tuesday and after examining me said he would have to fit a catheter He cleaned my bladder and then rinsed it. The pain was undescribable. I cannot understand why I couldn't have taken some paracetamol tablets for the pain beforehand. I did ask for some tablets afterwards. He was a real butcher! I have to have this catheter in for 4 weeks and then he will fit another one. I have been warned - this time I will take some tablets before I see him!
I cannot understand why they took 2 years before fitting this catheter. I had seen several gynaecologists and urologists as well as doctors and they kept giving me anti-bacterial cures which didn't help.
Anyway I am getting used to the thing strapped to my leg. No more skirts or dresses for me, just trousers. I am still losing weight, which I hope will stop soon. It's nice getting into trousers which were too tight for me, but it's just not me looking skinny.
Johan and I had our 55 wedding anniversary on Thursday but we spent it quietly with only our youngest daughter coming in the evening with a lovely bunch of pink and white flowers. Johan bought me two large plant pots with all the ingredients for planting tomatoes and cucumbers for on the balcony. Johan will be 87 next Tuesday so will have more friends and family coming.
I hope to get down to making some more cards tomorrow and forget all doctors and hospitals.
The temperature was 15 degrees today so the sun was really warm. We have two blue tits nesting in our nesting box. It's lovely to see them flying to and fro with bits for their nest.
Have a lovely weekend.
Love Sylvia xxx

Jill the sheep are definitely taking their time, obviously waiting for the warmer weather!! The concertina flowers bring back some memories, used to make them when I was at school, had forgot all about it till I looked at them on Craft Barn. The are so simple yet so effective on cards and boxes, seems like the exploding boxes are coming back into fashion, have seen quite a look around recently.

Weather nice here today at least no fog which is good, driving down the motorway on Tuesday in thick fog was no fun at all!! Two bad crashes on the 50 mile journey, both resulted in loss of life, roads closed and mega delays, added an hour onto my short journey, one before I even reached the motorway and it was only 7am. Dread to think what the traffic would be like at the rush hour as the roads were closed for moist of the day. Why don't drivers slow down and take more care when the fog is bad, surprising how many cars were driving well in excess of the speed limit on the motorway even though you couldn't see properly makes me so cross!!!!!!! Enough complaining from me.
Still haven't made granddaughters first birthday card.....

Have a good day

Good evening to you all and hope you are all keeping well. We are still waiting on lambs but had a bad lambing a week ago as triplets all tangled up inside then mum rejected one and it just gave up and died.
Kelly is coming over with RĂ©mi in two weeks so hoping to get the rest of lambing out of the way.
Been making some double sided boxes with paper concertina flowers and all the ladies in class love them, check out craft barn and go into their blog for easy instructions :)

The thread has gone quiet so I thought I would nudge it up. Hope you are all well and the reason nobody is posting is that you are all too busy making cards.

I went to a great craft fair yesterday, spent quite a bit of money on small purchases on several stalls. Lots of toppers and decoupage sheets, DS tape, glittery acetate and peel offs. Soon mounts up doesn't it? Saved some of my cash to spend in the craft shop in Kendal when we are up there.
