Von Report 8 Sep 2016 17:32

Shaun sorry to hear about your traumas.

Personally I would look to the Alendronic acid tablet as the culprit. It played havoc with my inside so much so I ended up hardly eating anything. :-( :-0

Asked Dr and she said we can give you another pill for the pain :-0

Declined and last time I saw the Dr. I told him I had stopped taking it and he said fine.
My inside has recovered and now almost back to normal eating. :-D :-D :-D

The trouble is Drs at the moment dish out pills for this and that and assume one size fits all. My Drs attitude at the moment is if it works take it if not then don't take it. That is of course until he gets paid for some other initiative. ;-) ;-) ;-)

My OH has to take pills after his heart by pass but even he has had to have some changed or the dose reduced so that he feels well.
I do hope they can sort your medication so it doesn't affect you adversely.

Gets down off soap box and goes to cut up the cake I've just made :-D :-D :-D

Shocked you didn't know what whispering ironing was :-S :-S :-S :-0

S&S - good to have family to stay. Hope you enjoy your trip to Merthyr. I've never been there but one branch of the family from Pembrokeshire did settle there.

Hope everyone has enjoyed the sunshine
Take care
<3 Von

SugarandSpice Report 8 Sep 2016 16:55

Afternoon all,

Just finished my 1 month Findmypast subscription of a whopping £1. Found a lot of information and had more than my £1's worth. Had all the family down for 2 nights over the weekend. There was 13 of us and 2 dogs managed to sleep every one in beds apart from my grandsons they slept on a mattress on the floor. The old white sheets and small tablecloths that I had intended to give to a charity are now the children's dressing up clothes with a few old bits and bobs of mine and husbands thrown in for good measure. Was great to have them all together for more than a few hours.

I am now completely organised for my family history trip to Merthyr next month.

Sun is shining here but a lot fresher and not anywhere near as humid as it has been.

Shaun, What bad luck with the transport again. You being a foodie its bound t be a real trial not being able to eat what you like. Sounds like you will have to eat small meals and often.

Von, Today is another nice day for swinging. Make the sun the excuse.

GlossyAnn, Will have to take a look at your blog. They do those U3A walks round here as I like to take my time and sometimes look at the view they are not for me.

Bethan, Hey girl, a boy how lovely. Enjoy the Big Apple never been there but lots to see and do I believe. Repeating what the others have said come back for a natter.

Jem, Sorry to hear that you have not been feeling up to the mark, rest up and come back soon.

Sylvia, See there is a reason to stay this thread. Will miss your posts if you go.

Linda, I hope by now your cold has cleared up.

\Bye for now~~~~~~~~to everyone.

MagicWales Report 7 Sep 2016 19:14

Hey >>>>>>Up you lovely lot :-)

Thank you for all your good luck wishes <3 It was an NHS people carrier that picked me up and apparently new vehicles built today do not have a spare wheel, at one time if you did not have one you would fail the mot, odd that.

I have been on a strict diet for 2 years or more, the large oval dinner plates with sideboards have gone and now only use little side plates, for a good while I have felt bloated as if eaten a large meal so now I have a yogurt for breakfast, 1.00 lunch which consists of steamed veg, fish or chicken then I might have a rice or macaroni pudding “ Amb tinned version “ for tea and that is it.

My favourite meats mutton, lamb, boiling bacon, pheasant, partridge and venison are a no no. I can have small amounts of beef or pork but got to put it through the mincer first also got to take the skin off chicken before its cooked, liver and kidney are ok. I like my fruit and veg, no dislikes across the board will eat any of it at one time but now oranges, grapefruits, pineapple, grapes, banana even my tomatoes are a no no.

No homemade chutney or pickle with cheese and crackers no fresh milk got to drink this long-life rubbish that has been blasted with radiation, I can have a boiled or poached egg but got to leave the white. I do have a little fresh white bread but supposed to have brown only but the brown don’t agree with me.

After telling you all that I must confess that now and again I do a naughty and have something I shouldn’t , bleeding good job they have not got sweetbreads or magic mushrooms on the list :-)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now catching up with you all :-)
Linda I’m sorry to read that you have a bad cold plenty of fluids and mushroom potions will soon have you up and running again :-)
Ann hope you have got over your hike and having a rest to day :-)
Von I’m intrigued “what is whispers ironing “? Tell all. Were you using a hot iron off the range, you know the one you spit on to see if it is hot enough, them were the days :-)
Sylvia, I have always been a fast eater but not so bad now, the biggest problem is the spinal brace according to the specialist although I slacken the tension a little and the Alendronic acid I take for osteoporosis as caused the problems, they all tell you something different so who knows :-)
Bethan it is lovely to see you, have a great time in New York and don’t forget my rock :-)
Barbra, lovely to see you hope you are ok :-)
Jem, I am worried about Ashton I thought they grew over night thank goodness his Mum done it on her “ app “ whatever that is ? :-)
Sallie, Mersey, Hazel, Sue, Brenda, Sugarandspice, AnnCardiff and anyone that pops into the mad-house I hope you are all OK or OKISH :-)
Night Night
Shaun <3
Good Afternoon Everyone :-) :-) :-) <3
Cloudy sunshine with a breeze here in the South West.
I can see it out of the bedroom window lol! :-D :-D :-D
having to have a day of bed rest today, following a very busy day yesterday and my back/hip/knees etc have gone!
But at least I bought some lovely autumn clothes for my Kent hols, and managed the food shopping.
sorry to hear that you had another gruelling time of it on Monday, but I'm pleased that although you've had some nasty stuff diagnosed, it wasn't the worst news. :-)
.... and don't worry... Our Ashton hasn't turned into a dog (or whatever it's supposed to be lol :-0) His Mum has an app on her phone that did all that to his photo :-D
The Lions have chosen their Head Coach for 2017... so new rugby thread for you
Well done on the walking:-)
I miss the walks we used to do. Hoping to get back regularly walking again soon. :-)
I'm like you. I have my camera with me all the time. I love to have the memories of the outings and walks recorded in picture to look back on :-)
After my long treks around shops yesterday, I can quite see why you have enough excercise while walking around London lol :-D
Lovely to see you again :-)
Hope you have a great time in New York. Not long to go now before you will have a lovely little boy to love and cherish <3
Hope the cats won't be jealous though! :-D
Hope your cold is getting better, and that you are not to tired after your holiday with Eve :-)
Hope things are good with you and yours in Canada :-)
I have problems with my oesophagus too. I have to take lansoprazole and also Peptac Liquid.
Hope you and yours are ok :-)
Hope you've been managing to find something interesting on FMP.
I find it very good for my Kent records, but GR is better for Pembrokeshire.
I hope you and Alun are doing ok. Thinking of you :-)
I'm rather worried cos I haven't seen her on the boards for ages :-(
~~ to All looking in on the Welsh Thread :-) :-) :-) :-)
Love Jem <3
Bethan, how lovely to see you. Maybe when you are on maternity leave you will have a little more free time to come and see us. I miss your posts. It sounds as if things are going ok with your pregnancy but you must try not to overdo things. Wow a boy, how lovely, now you know what colour clothes to buy!
And, wonderful, a trip to New York, I hope that you have a lovely time, what a great present.
Try and come back and see us soon. :-) <3
Welshkitty Report 7 Sep 2016 00:03
Hi all,
Sadly I don't have much free time so haven't checked this site in a while.
I am greatly saddened to read about Tec passing away <3
SHAUN I also see your mum passed away and I'm sorry to hear this and are thinking about you and your family <3
Like mentioned above at the mo I'm pretty busy, I'm now just over 6 months pregnant and found out I'm having a boy. This weekend I'm heading to New York which was a gift from hubby for my 30th birthday, the day before we travel we have a family wedding so pretty packed in.
At the mo I'm either working or preparing for baby and sleeping lol
My cats are still crazy and they will be on their hols from Thursday so just hope they behave at the cattery lol
The weeks are flying by and I'm looking forward to starting maternity leave early November.
Sorry not read back but hope everyone well.
Bethan <3
SylviaInCanada Report 6 Sep 2016 19:18
Hi Shaun
Sorry to hear that yesterday was not good.
Hiatus hernia is what they found I have when I had those tests done in July, and I had the oesophageal ulcer about 12 years ago ................. the medication isn't bad.
You'll probably find that you have to really chew your food, eat slowly, and have smaller meals with the hiatus hernia.
take care everyone
AnninGlos Report 6 Sep 2016 16:38
We have always enjoyed walking but with me it is a means to an end and I have camera in hand all the time. This lot are a bit fast walking for that so we were trailing at the back. can't be doing with a route march but several of us are of the same idea so try and slow it down a bit. And we are fair weather and (hopefully) flat walkers. Hmm, I don't like mud either and now OH has two pairs of shoes to clean. :-D :-D
Von Report 6 Sep 2016 16:32
Shaun - so sorry to hear of the traumas that befell you on the way to the hospital. :-0
It's not fair that you other examination was cancelled however I guess that's how it is.
Sorry to hear about the Hiatus Hernia :-(
You will be proud of me - yesterday I did (whispers) ironing. I watched Sunday nights episode of Victoria to make ironing less painful.
Ann - take it easy. 4.5 miles. :-0 :-0 :-0. My OH walks with a group regularly but I don't go. Can't see the sense in Walking through mud when the point of his walks is to raise your heart rate and keep fit. ;-) ;-) ;-)
I prefer pootling to the shops,art galleries, record offices or cafes ;-) Seriously though I try to go as many places as I can on public transport as that usually involves quite a bit of walking.20 mins to my nearest railway station.
~~~~~~~~~ to anyone looking in
Take care
<3 Von

AnninGlos Report 6 Sep 2016 16:00

Oh dear Shaun, the joys of hospital transport. I think the question I want toa ske is why was there not a spare wheel? Is it private transport by volunteers or transport provided by NHS? Bad anyway. And frustrating to have the appointment cancelled.

Pleased to hear that they found no nasties, and good that it is manageable for you. Now keep those feet up.

My legs ache, we went for a 4.5 mile walk this morning, just a local walk with the U3A, 12 of us walking. was not impressed to have to get through a group of frisky nosy bullocks (I think they were). However it was a good walk, flat but a bit muddy in places and rough walking through a couple of field with public footpath running through them, about 4 or five stiles too and we are all retired so no young ones among us.

Barbra Report 6 Sep 2016 15:24

Hello Shaun dear me you will need to put your feet up .have a rest <3 .Take Care Barbra .( ~~~~~~~~~To All xx

MagicWales Report 6 Sep 2016 15:17

Booooooooooooooo from the cave :-)

Monday was not a good day well I have had better ones, carer got here at 8.30 to look after OH, and hospital car picked me up 9.15, all going to plan, 4 miles into the trip and blow-out on front tyre, NO SPAIR WHEEL or kit to change tyre so driver rang in to say he as a patient booked in for tests 11.00 and could someone pick him up, no problem was the reply,12.20 ambulance eventually picked me up.

Got to the department gone 2.00 and they were not amused after I had explained to them what happened. I had the upper tests done just gone 3.30 and taken to recovery room where I had to stay until they saw fit to let me go. I said to a nurse in the recovery room why bring me here when I should be also having the lower examination, off she went to find out. She came back 30 mins later and said it has been cancelled because I was late, got back home 7.45 tattered.

The test proved that I have a Hiatus Hernia and ulceration of the oesophagus although uncomfortable it can be managed with meds for the time being, I’m chuffed that they found no nasties lurking about.

So now I’m waiting for 2 packets of dynamite ready to have the tail end done, whenever that will be.

Hope you are all ok or okish and being good like me<3

I will read back and chat again folks, got to get legs up.
