Kay, that is what I thought you can still PM I believe, unless they have changed that. And, if she was on a holiday surely GR would have deleted this thread. I think a first ban is usually about a month.

Island Report 21 Feb 2011 15:35

Thanks Kay and Ann
I didn't know whether 'vacations' stretched to pms or not.
I think we can rule out the norty step for Julia then.

Perhaps her membership ran out and she thought the money would be better spent on wool and pickling spices?

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 21 Feb 2011 15:47

I am sure if she were able that Julia would have sent a PM or put a post on here. So that leaves three possibles. Her PC has packed up, she wouldn't be able to do either of the above then and, as far as I know, she doesn't have the address or phone number of anyone.

She is ill and unable to post

Her Other half is ill and she is too occupied to post.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that it is the first one.

I agree, Ann, she would have let us know if she possibly could. XX BC

Julia suffers from a similar illness to me which can be life-threatening (as it was in my case). Her attacks were becoming more frequent and an op was on the cards she had only been out of hospital a couple of days when she disappeared.

I have written to GR asking if they can confirm that she has not received a ban. Explained that a lot of members are worrying about her. Let you know what comes back.

Persephone Report 21 Feb 2011 21:31

I have come to the conclusion that Julia is either a) not at all well - which I hope is not the case or b) her computer has packed it in which would mean that she has no e-mail contact with us. Let us hope it is the computer and nothing serious.

Resumes pacing up and down, stop rattling those beads so loudly Ann (LOL)

Would it be possible to look on the Electoral Roll

............ you know the street she lives on

........... you know her christian name

........... you know her husband's christian name

........... is the name on here her married or maiden name?

There's several people do ER lookups on Records and Tips.

It would be a bit of a search, but .........

ChrisofWessex Report 22 Feb 2011 11:48

reply from GR it is not their practise to discuss members accounts! I never asked for her name, details of her account only if they could say whether or not she was on a ban and told them there was a thread running as people were concerned. Thanks GR

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 22 Feb 2011 11:53

That is what I thought you'd get Chris. It would have been nice if they had said 'no need to worry' or words to that effect wouldn't it?

Sylvia. We are not sure of the surname as she only has the initial letter when you PM. And, I think Julia may well have opted out of being on the electoral roll public listing so not sure we could find her that way. She is not, we don't think, in the phone book.

'Emma' Report 22 Feb 2011 12:10

hello all, it's a shame that the reply was not a bit more
forth coming, as you say Ann a "no need to worry" would
let us know something at least.

Maybe, just maybe they could contact her.
Then again maybe not. They cant get involved in peoples private lives I suppose.
I thought somebody on here would know her.

i do hope shes ok, its been a long time since any one has heard from her :( x

ButtercupFields

ButtercupFields Report 22 Feb 2011 14:35

It HAS been a long time, Stray, but you know I would be reluctant to go any further than we have, in finding Julia. She has an OH and family I think, so if there is an illness, then she will be in good hands. I remember a much loved and respected GR member who was a regular contributor to these Boards. She simply disappeared from our lives and although we sent emails, and PMs, we never found out what had happened. Eventually, we had to let it go. Some people on here might remember Pat in Circles? I still miss her and her humour.

Anyway, this is just my opinion. I hope we can keep the thread going until the Grand Entrance of a fully fit and happy Julia....and with all our knitting finished:-) lol BCXX

Island

Island Report 22 Feb 2011 14:39

To be honest, I agree with GR about privacy.
It seems Julia has not volunteered her contact info to anyone here (unless someone is, quite rightly, being descreet) I remember her being shocked to realise that her surname was displayed and quickly changed it.
I don't feel it is right to track her down. I'm sure she has family to look out for her if needs be and we should not cross the line from cyberspace into real life unless invited to do so.

Just my opinion btw

I think she would be amused by this thread though!

edit Ah BC, you nipped in ahead of me :-)

StrayKitten

StrayKitten Report 22 Feb 2011 14:45

iv got to agree with you too ladies,

julia hasnt given out much info, and should not be contacted anymore i think delving into her private info would be crossing the line,

but i do hope she iwll be bck soon or contact somone xx
