Message from GR re site unavailable from 11.00 am this morning while they upload some new features. Looking forward to seeing the new upgrade when it is available.

I hope, during the tweaking, they will remove the poppy!

Have you tried it yet. Send a PM with an attachment. Sort your messages into folders. Have all the messages from one person on view one after the other. Now that is a real bonus. I can now follow a conversation without having to jump between messages.

Hi Elisabeth. Yes it looks like the poppy has gone.

Elisabeth Report 21 Nov 2011 11:46

I still have a poppy! I even logged off, and back in again, but it is still there. Perhaps it will be amended with a few holly leaves soon,

Poppy leaf gone, and attachments with threaded PMs activated! A long as the servers can cope with it, that feature is going to be a real bonus. Folders? What folders? Back later :-)

But is it just me or do you all get the lidt of messages in the in box in very large type? I like the idea of linking the messages and that works but the actual in box looks weird. Suppose I'll get used to it. :-D

Yes, the layout is different, but we'll get used to it. Thought it was the PC doing its pre-settling down bit after booting up - lol. Did you notice there are more options in the messages drop down box?

This is fun!

Hi everyone, if the font looks too large please press CTRL and F5 on your keyboard at the same time. That should do the trick.

Estelle,

I haven't really investigated the Messages yet, but why have I still got my poppy, when other people haven't? I have logged out of the site and in again, and logged off the computer and restarted, and it is still there.

Thanks Estelle. Mind you the larger print, while we get used to the changes, could be beneficial....saves worrying about an opticians appointment :-)

Elizabeth they will be doing it gradually I expect, I still have mine too.

Thanks Estelle will try that.

Tried control and F5 but that doesn't seem to work with Firefox. Never mind better than being too small.

I like the idea of being able to subdivide into folders - on ancestry I have divided my messages into four basic families. It will make me go through several years of messages and delete a lot of false trails!

In the messages centre - the date on the right is normal size font but on the left showing to whom or from whom it was sent the text is much larger font :-S
There is nothing in archives; and the purpose of folders is?
And why is updates and privacy setting in the messages centre?

Edited:
And the poppy is still visible.

Not sure about Archives, but you can create folders as you wish - it might be all the messages about a particular person/surname, or search, or even from one GR corresponder.

So far (before getting bored) I've made 2 - one for an ER search for a specific person, and the other about a set of PR which someone has access to. At least it means the messages are easier to find in the future, if needed.

As far as I'm concerned, for the more organised (which I'm not) it is a great advantage.

Phil has posted an updated blog, here is the link. I think I found it on announcements. I really like this new idea. If you read through his blog you will discover all the changes.

I love the ability to sort your messages. You make up your own folders and sort your messages into them. Really good idea when you are talking to someone on a particular subject over several weeks. DET and I have excharged photos and that works very well.

Go have a play, you won't break it.
