Helen in Kent

Helen in Kent Report 13 Jan 2012 14:52

Many thanks to everyone from whom I have received stories; I've not been able to reply yet but I will be putting cyber-pen to paper this weekend.

Rambling Rose

Rambling Rose Report 13 Jan 2012 17:17

My apologies for the piece I've just sent out in two text sizes.. no matter how I copied or recopied it still came out that way...awful if you have to adjust to read I know :-|

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 13 Jan 2012 17:27

No problem Rose, two good pieces there. Do we want more scenarios this weekend? :-D

Rambling Rose

Rambling Rose Report 14 Jan 2012 19:57

Many thanks to all who have sent me comments, and to all who have sent writing of course :-D And thanks to Ann for coming up with two topics that 'grabbed' me !

Any suggestions for next topic/s gratefully received, it was mentioned to me that we might take it in turns to do so ( and I forgot to pass that on , sorry) so maybe we can do that in future if everyone is happy with it? or make one suggestion each, every week? or just as we think of one ( lol don't wait for me, my mind's a blank :-S)

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 14 Jan 2012 22:20

Anyone got a suggestion then?

ButtercupFields

ButtercupFields Report 14 Jan 2012 22:57

A terrapin, an ancient castle and a gardener....

a wet windy night, a set of dentures, a red lipstick.....

a built in wardrobe, an Italian chef, and a Playboy bunny...

a toupee floating on a lake, a coincidence, a flat tyre.....

Wend

Wend Report 14 Jan 2012 23:10

That's me - the second one! Do it, do it! Change my name though . . . . .

ButtercupFields

ButtercupFields Report 14 Jan 2012 23:12

*takes up quill. ' She was tall, lissom and her name was not, I repeat NOT Wendy....when'...... :-D :-D :-D <3 :-D

Wend

Wend Report 14 Jan 2012 23:38

. . . . . she looked into his eyes, her hand trembling on the door handle, and said 'I'm so, so sorry, my darling, but I must go now'. He placed his hand on her shoulder gently and pleaded, 'Please stay, Wanda - it's not the right time to be leaving now, especially as the north wind is blowing in and it's starting to rain - please come back and sit by the fire for a while and we can talk'. She put her hand in her coat pocket and felt the familiar Dior lipstick she'd always worn nestling there and thought to herself 'Can I risk it, yes I can; one more night, but I must go home early tomorrow morning . . . . .

AnninGlos Report 15 Jan 2012 09:52

Wend...... Join the group!!

I feel embarrassed now, I was offering suggestions because some time back after TW left nobody had any ideas to offer and I had a pile of Writers Forum magazines with ideas in for prose and poetry. I had not realised that others were 'waiting in the wings' with suggestions I apologise.

Thanks BC will look at those.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 15 Jan 2012 09:54

I have to admit nothing springs to mind at the moment though.

ButtercupFields

ButtercupFields Report 15 Jan 2012 10:49

Ann, I only did that as a bit of fun and off the top of my (strange) head! And Wendy egged me on! :-D

Please put your ideas here as they will be more constructive. I find I get loads of ideas, but then the hard part is putting some structure to them and pulling it together. I have been reading other peoples' blogs on the internet and you know, our 'stuff' doesn't look too shabby in comparison! :-D

Wend Report 15 Jan 2012 11:23

. . . . . and put my dentures into steradent to give them a good clean. They've been in for far too long. She took her hand off the door-handle and followed him into the sitting-room . . . . .

I'd love to join Ann, but I don't think I would have the time to regularly contribute. :-)

ButtercupFields

ButtercupFields Report 15 Jan 2012 11:35

Wend, there is absolutely no pressure to write regularly, you write as and when you feel like it or even become one of our valued 'readers'! Now put yer dentures back in and join! :-D

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 15 Jan 2012 11:51

Wend there is nothing regular about us :-D :-D

None of us stick to a routine as BC says it is as and when.

No we'll do yours (strange as they are Lol!!!) It is only fair as Rose said that we all have a chance. I just didn't think anyone else wanted to but somebody has suggested that they do so I'll wait and see.

'Emma'

'Emma' Report 15 Jan 2012 12:54

As one who receives your work and gives feedback,
would love to read about some of your ancestors of
long ago which you have found, about their life, work etc.
If this would be too personal to you maybe a story of fiction
about their life.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 15 Jan 2012 13:01

Thanks Emma will give it a go

BC I have embellished a couple of your suggestions as they didn't have a character (is that OK?) And then added a couple more for good measure. Maybe these will do for two weeks as plenty to choose from, plus Emma's suggestion of

a character from our family history
and maybe one for the poets - Hidden secrets

A terrapin, an ancient castle and a gardener....

a wet windy night, a set of dentures, a red lipstick..... bus driver

a built in wardrobe, an Italian chef, and a Playboy bunny...

a toupee floating on a lake, a coincidence, a flat tyre..... beautician

A grandmother & a chiropractor
Conflict – feeling out of place
Weather – Heat wave
Setting – Cliff top
Object – A string of pearls

A toddler and an old flame
Conflict jealousy
Weather hail stones
Setting- harbour
Object – a novelty telephone

Rambling Rose

Rambling Rose Report 15 Jan 2012 13:01

Wend yes do please join us, as Ann said there is nothing regular about us lol :-D

Thanks Emma, I may do something on the ancestors soon, I've just found two family connections and realised when I was trying to explain who was who that I really do need to get the story written rather than just a 'a was the son of b who was the uncle of C', put some flesh on the bones.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 15 Jan 2012 13:02
