I wish somebody would vote Dawn French off.

Janet Report 18 Jul 2012 13:22

Got to agree GG1, normally I enjoy Dawn French and her humour but in this scenario she is a definite no no.

ALW always gives constructive criticism, after following their progress during each rehearsal then how they step up to the mark in the show. Think the standard is very high so it will all depend on their charisma which cannot be bought, its either there ........or not- jl

Such a lot of talent, Nathan (blonde rocker) think
thats his name, great singer but not sure he can
carry a ballad without rocking out the lyrics. My
favourites are still there.
Dawn still making me cringe, dread what she is going
to say next.

Been surprised so far with who has been in the bottom two.

Perhaps the viewers are judging it as a song contest as two of the "pretty" boys have gone.

ALW was not blessed in the looks dept but I do like him.

Not sure what Dawn adds to the panel.

Jon, who was the reserve, is doing better than expected so I bet ALW is pleased he put him on the show.

Jeff is the Irish lad with long dark hair and beard:) the baby of the group.....very good, yes he does take on board what is said and does something about it too:)
Not sure of the one with long blonde hairs name, but he's very good.
Tim is the one who said how embarrassed he was or something...his wife had never seen him with his top off....WHAT????...HAVE I GOT THAT RIGHT?.....he's improving all the time, but something lacking:(
Yeh.....l know its taking the mickey but :-|..l don't dislike him though:)

I think they always call him the Lord on these type of shows, mickey taking on his title. He is Lord Lloyd Webber I think isn't he?

I can't remember all the names Jude, I think Ben is good but not sure I can see him in the part, but they all have time to learn. Jeff, is that the one with long blond hair and a beard, is good but a bit hard at the moment, he needs to soften up a bit. I quite like the Irish lad with long dark hair and a dark beard (probably because he is very much like our eldest grandson to look at), I like his voice and he has taken on board all the advice he is given and has improved a lot.

Morning:)

When this thread first came up l did'nt know what you were talking about, did'nt even read the thread.....dohh
But have watched the last 3 evenings and love it:)

Why do they keep on at the blonde guy (long hair), he's brill, also Tim, but maybe not the right charisma, Jeff is getting better and the one with balding hair brilliant, also the tall fairish haired one, square jawed can't remember all the names.
Dawn is funny, Jason gets abit above himself, but l like him, Mel C...l like alot but not sure if this is her kind of programme. ALW....mmm, l don't like the way they call him the Lord, but its presumably meant to be funny, l don't find it funny anymore. He's a very clever man but l sort of get embarrased by him....he gives credit where credit is due though:)

Love these kind of shows, as you say Ann, its easy watching and can be entertaining:)

We have seen Superstar 3 times one of which was a non professional production but not local amateur, about 25 years ago in Stevenage by a company out of London I think. That, in our eyes was the best most sensitively produced performance. The latest we saw about 3/4 years ago in Bristol, it was ok except for one thing. The whipping/scourging (sp) was over the top violent. OK maybe it was more realistic but it was brutal and made us feel uncomfortable - strange - .

Just turned on to ITV 3 and the movie is on, remember how disappointed I was by it, not good casting of Jesus imo, lol I am, I'm afraid, very opinionated sometimes ( often!) especially when it comes to music.

AnninGlos Report 17 Jul 2012 22:07

Sadly I was right about Dirk. I think tiredness is beginning to take its toll with some of them.

Rambling

Rambling Report 17 Jul 2012 21:51

Watching now, I don't want to jinx it but I have my personal winner chosen. But there are two I really think could do it, it will be interesting to hear them when they tackle a song from the show.

When I'm on here my back is to the tv, if I just 'have' to turn round when someone starts to sing it's usually a good indicator.

AnninGlos Report 17 Jul 2012 17:11

One down 9 to go. Who will go tonight? I loved Dirk's voice singing Memories but think he is in danger, also Andrew saying he didn't see Niall as Jesus may have pushed the voters a gainst him. On the other hande perverse voters will vote for hi,. Some good singing again last night. They will be exhausted by the end of the week. How do they learn the words? Or do you think they may have been given the songs they will sing if not voted out, a few weeks ago?

I hope not too, maybe they should have all worn wigs Lol!!!

Does everyone realise that it is on every night this week? (makes a change from football/sport.) :-D

'Emma' Report 16 Jul 2012 10:48

Enjoyed last nights show and have picked my favourites,
can see their faces but can't remember their names :-D

Must say Dawn French made me feel uncomfortable
at times with her remarks.

Long hair and a beard? lol let's hope not.
The leads I've seen haven't been particularly hairy.

Rambling

Rambling Report 15 Jul 2012 22:41

Ann, I'm hoping that lots of the voters will be people who know the music, and what a vocal stretch some of the songs are, rather than youngsters who may never have heard JCS and just go for the pretty boys ( lol now I feel really old!).

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 15 Jul 2012 22:24

Do you think they will go for the person who fits their perception of what they have been led to believe Jesus looked like (from Bible stories etc), A couple fitted that bill but were not the best performers necessarily.

Island

Island Report 15 Jul 2012 21:59

Well having said I don't usually watch this type of show, we tuned in just for something to watch this evening and were pleasantly surprised :-D
Real performers, not wannabes :-D

Ben, Tim and Roger did it for me but I think the voters will go for a pretty boy.
