Have just noted all the books on the list.
Will see if I can get any from the Library when I go. (But it probably won't be in the next two weeks as I'm rather busy).

Hmm, now I have a problem the library has managed to give me all three books, me thinks maybe the housework may get put on hold at the weekend ;-)

Shall keep looking.

I haven't seen it yet in our 'The Works' either, but will check again next week.
Definitely saw it in WHS though.

They also had it at Waterstones as part of their 'buy one get one half price' deal so if you needed to buy someone a book for Christmas it might be worth it - other than that Ann you'll have to make a trip to Southend to our Works! :-D

AnninGlos Report 10 Nov 2012 14:51

Well I searched The Works this morning and couldn't find The Haunting, the shop is upside down with christmas stuff and the books all shoved to the back in heaps but I did look thoroughly. Wonder if they will have it in Tesco?

Thank you Berona that is helpful. I am guilty of often suggesting books waiting to be read on my book shelf. But that means theya re not new books so will have been there a while. I have downloaded the Katie Flynn one to my Kindle as well.

Berona

Berona Report 10 Nov 2012 06:52

I have managed to download Haunting and Sixpenny Christmas onto my kindle - so I'll see how I go with them and try for Disciple later.

When I registered with Amazon, I was directed to go through the US site, not the UK site, so that is where I check before recommending any books. I expect that others do the same with their suppliers. I again check to see what's available before voting.
I really can't think of a better way to do it than we already do and I'm quite happy to read an alternate suggested book if both favourites are not available. From what I've seen, I think the others feel this way too. However, suggestions are always appreciated.

I've been looking out for this book since I heard on another website that it was set in Alresford, where we have a family interest.
I saw it last week in paperback in WHSmith I think, but will check The Works now for a better price.
.... Hmm whether to buy or leave it on my Christmas list, but it may already have been purchased......

Thanks Pammy I shall look for that then.

Thanks Ann

For those in the UK - The Works has The Haunting at £2.99

Berona, what about the haunting is that available (it is available on kindle if anyone has one.

I know it is difficult and probably not easy for us to find books which are always available for you. Maybe we should find a different way of doing things. have those of you in Oz/NZ got any suggestions as to how we could do that? Maybe find out what is available before we vote.

Berona, can you read an review what is available then? :-)

Michelle

Michelle Report 9 Nov 2012 10:53

Seen, it is going to take me a week or so to get The Haunting as it is from our Interloan Library system.

Sixpenny Christmas I think is where I will start from as I can see that there is one copy available in the local library, someone took out Disciple today

Berona

Berona Report 9 Nov 2012 10:13

Just checked with supplier and learned that Disciple will not be available here in Oz until late January.

AnninGlos Report 9 Nov 2012 10:09

The Haunting by Alan Titchmarsh 1111
Lady of the English By Elizabeth Chadwick 11
The Art of Love by Elizabeth Edmondson 1
Daughters of the Grail by Elizabeth Chadwick 1
The Kingmaker's Daughter by Philippa Gregory
Fallen Skies by Philippa Gregory 1
The Head hunters by Jo Nesbo.
Baker Towers by Jennifer Haigh
The Jewels of Paradise by Donna Leon
The Disciple of Las Vegas (Ava Lee) by Ian Hamilton 111
Oryx and Crake – Margaret Atwood
A Sixpenny Christmas – Katie Flynn 111
Losing You – Susan Lewis
The Black Echo by Michael Connolly 1
City of Dark Hearts by James Conan
The Lantern by Deborah Lawrenson

so The Haunting is the first choice - I hope people don't have trouble getting this one, I believe it is still only in hard back (correct me if I am wrong) as it is a fairly new book.

Then The Disciple of Las Vegas (Ava Lee)
And a sixpenny Christmas.

You are, of course free to read any of the others you like :-D
