to be delivered by Royal Mail?

DIL sent parcel on 6th from Elgin approx 60 miles away from Aberdeen to me.
First class registered mail no sign as yet.
OH took in a parcel from Glasgow on the 8th posted on the 6th, second class mail.

Still can't complain a card was delivered from Elgin last week, posted 37 years ago
to a couple in Aberdeen, unfortunately they had both passed away.

Well not waiting for anything in particular, granddaughter works in London . we live in Kent so when she orders online she gets things delivered to us as we are at home most days.

She has been doing lots of Xmas shops online, no probs, but what annoys me is that Royal Mail are delivering to our address and just opening the porch door and putting parcels in ,they dont ring to see if anyone at home , Its a glass fronted porch with sliding patio doors so anyone can see whats in the porch SO its vulnerable to anyone just opening the door and taking whats in there.

Its really P....sing me off as it can cause problems if she reports non delivery of goods she had paid for.

I must mention a couple of hints here when sending parcels of any kind at any time of the year

1: Ensure that address and postcode are legible & a return address is also shown
2: Ensure that parcel is securely wrapped and sealed - this is essentail

When working some years ago in a RM parcel Christmas station (I was the manager at the time) I was regularly brought in packages which were so badly wrapped it was amazing they made from the Post Office. One came in with just the Christmas wrapping paper, with the barest amount of tape hold paper on and the name & address barely to be seen on the decorative paper. No return address, I had to place in a secure clear bag with the name & address clearly shown to ensure that this present made it to its destination.

Another must have had something made of glass/china as it rattled when handled, it contained little or no padding and nothing on package to indicate that anything fragile was inside ... one ruined gift ...


And when I worked on the Post Office Counters, I was in working in Peckham Post Office one Christmas Eve, and this lady rushed in just before we were about to close and wanted to post a 'registered' letter to the W. Indies for delivery on Christmas Day - she was most put out to be told that 1: the last mail had already been picked up and 2: even if she had caught that mail it would never have made it to W.I. by the next day.

And they say the customer is always right - Yeah!!! :-S :-S

Shirley know the feeling, the parcel was for my grand daughter's
birthday on the 9th, her 21st.

Annoying thing is she can't put in a claim for 15 working days,
we would have been better driving up there to get it from her.
