Will someone please wake me up when either the M4 is extended to the West Coast or b) the railway line is relaid between Carmarthen and anywhere within 30 miles of Cardigan?

Huge lorries pounding along the A and B roads on their way to the ferries to export Welsh products would destroy the roads within months. They aren't even maintained now.

Re coal, when Welsh prices rose in the 80s imports of Polish coal rose by gawd knows what percent. Even our Welsh neighbours were buying it. Each delivery came with stones which exploded on your open fire and produced red hot missiles travelling at warp speed which the kids had to dodge. Even with that in your hearth nobody wanted to pay extra for home produced coal.

West Wales airport? google the row that caused same with the tech park. Cardiff airport, they are stopping some flight routes. All that really bodes well for a self sustaining economy with inward investment doesn't it?

I could go on and on but I am knackered with all this thinking.

@Hayley-he thinks I want to rule Wales instead of him & his Druid lol

Our own Government in Cardiff Bay.
Our own Welsh TV channel
Loads of Welsh language books.
Eisteddfod still attended by huge crowds

Shortly, there wil be tax raising powers granted for Cardiff Bay Senedd.

That's a great start to a self supporting country, the Eisteddfod alone may keep a Welsh hospital running for a week or so-get real John

I think the maths have been done over and over. I was a cynic when I went to Bangor in the 60's and heard all this independence stuff. But I went through the maths in detail before I joined Plaid and I think personally there was no maths argument against then and none now.

Do you not think that if we ever approached the question of independence that your points would not be discussed very fully? And I am sure the maths argument will also be at the forefront of Scottish independence in next couple of years.

Suzanne. Your MP is Labour!!! Glenys Kinnock is from Holyhead and she is Labour and has helped to direct European money there. And teh County Council is being sorted out by Cardiff (Labour controlled) as we speak. So if the "Nationalists" (Plaid Cymru?) are in control, they must be bl***y good back seat drivers.

I knew I'd find the basis for the post and guess who commissioned the report?

******surprise******

Meanwhile, just a thought, if the Welsh become independant, if they're as passionate about it being Wales for the Welsh as John infers...someone will be skidding on the seat of his pants all the way back to Wolverhampton >>>>>>>>>

John - go bile your heid. You profess you do not understand my post - but then you never do - then I would say that your education did not do you much good, certainly not your grammar.

Wonder where you got your grant from?

JustJohn

JustJohn Report 2 Jan 2013 23:38

Sue. The two people mentioned in that report about "Wales would be 40% richer today" are Jill Evans, MEP and Adam Price. I am told by friends that these two (both about 40) are the ones to watch in Welsh politics. Extremely clever, extremely committed. Jill is a Rhondda girl (like the Plaid leader Leanne Wood) and Adam has been in USA honing his political muscle. Leanne, Jill and Adam are three to really watch in next decade imho.

Tecwyn - simply, diolch.

BK spreading 'lies' ?!!!! John, I want a pair of the glasses you have - the rose-tinted ones with blinkers. Where DID you get them from? Dr Lewis, perhaps ???

Wales as an Independent country ? That's a topic for a new thread, not this one (Sue ????). But your love for Peter Pan is wearing a bit thin in all matters Welsh. You cannot compare yourself to us, you cannot think like us. Being Welsh is not just a physical or political attribute, it's a mental one.

And if your not Welsh, you simply don't have it.(with apologies to the 'nearly integrated' population out there ! Mwaahhh!) <3

Political muscle...we are talking about Wales? aren't we? :-D

John-do us a favour will you? Someone dumped two welsh pit ponies on the golf course here. Can you come & fetch them...they need repatriating they're annoying the local ponies. Thanks

There is none so boring as a reformed smoker, an alcoholic or a converted believer in any God and a feverent Nationalist of any country.

Sounds like an old fashioned record stuck in the groove. They all reckon if they shout long enough that those who are out of step will submit.

Bored of Wessex

Well they need to go somewhere, I suspect the RSPCA will gather them up but there's a herd runs wild on the hills & the stallion won't be impressed-they're stallions :(
I think they should go home-they could be trained to pull a political chariot! lol

Fortunately no true Welshman has ever suggested before in my life I do not think and breathe like a Welshman. So those sort of insults leave me totally unmoved.

I was born in Colwyn Bay. My mother was born and bred in that area and gave me my love of all things Welsh. My wife is very Welsh indeed - but accepts that I am more of a nationalist. Most of my friends from Bangor were involved in pushing forward Wales - and they have succeeded far more than ever I have.

I lived in Wolverhampton from one to 14. My dad was a soldier in WW2 from Wton. I am very proud of my links to Wton. But, whenever I have had a chance to live in Wales, I have taken it. And have lived 35 years of my life in Wales now. I have written a short book in Welsh. I have been interviewd on Welsh TV. I have always put my nationality down proudly as Welsh.

I have nothing against being English. Just that it has never been my identity - and never will be. And all this talk of half this or half that, or you do not understand makes no sense to me at all.

I would not dream of asking you why you think you are Welsh. You are proud that you are - I am proud that you are also. And I am very proud and privileged that I am.
