I've just seen it on the television. It's well done but it doesn't show that gorgeous smile or the sparkle in her eyes. Her face looks older and rounder.

Haven't seen the photo it was copied fron that Rose mentioned. But can't help thinking she must have gone out with her mates in Holyhead and photo was taken in early hours :-) ;-)

It lacks the vibrancy of youth, and "something else" that, at the moment, I just can't quite explain ....( ?)

I'm with Stray, her eyes do look a bit spooky. I think it is because the artist has put too much shadow in from her hair. To me one eye is a bit out of synch with the other.

Having said that when enlarged it doesn't look quite so bad. ;-)

I think there is a problem with the eyes that detracts from her looks, there's definitely something 'missing' - her sparkle isn't captured but otherwise a fairly good likeness.

I once sat as a model for an art class run by a friend, I was mortified at some of the interpretations of me lol

On the News this morning, they said reaction has been mixed (as reflected here). And they said Kate thought the painting was "amazing".

Is "amazing" the young royal word for everything? Remember Zara Phillip's speech when she won a sportsperson award a few years back. Never before heard a whole 5 minutes speech with only one word in it :-D

Perhaps its the photo that isnt doing justice for the painting as its a full on face,,,,,,,maybe a snap with a tilt of the head upwards so it gave a more neckline angle would have been better,,,,,,,,,,as it is it reminds of of a view from the back of a spoon,,,,,,,,,all nose...... :-D

PW,said it was beautiful,really beautiful.,,,,,, ;-)

I think it is awful

Makes her look jowly, the only bit I think which looks goods is her eyes, he has put a lovely sparkle in them.

Why did they not ask someone like Jack Vetriano, who a few years ago did a wonderful portrait of Zara Philips.
