yes that's usually true about big families. We lived near a family with nine children,there were five girls and four of those would baby sit for us.I was a young mother and they knew as much (perhaps even more lol ) than me:-) lovely girls they were:-D

Good morning Mau <3 I didn't see the programme but it reminds me of an aunt of mine who had 11 children. She said they were no problem, each one brought the other one up!

I agree with what you say Liz (re. wife having more babies.) She spent more time in hospital having the last so perhaps next time things might get even more complicated for her and bring problems for their household.
ah thought it sad when Jack? said his mum and dad had missed his birthday,and like you say they all have to be given their own time.
The older ones are very good,but seems unfair for them to be given such responsibility at a young age.
But yes definitely children to be proud of Diane

Just watched it on my laptop, they are an amazing couple and all credit to them coping so well and the kids are a great bunch of kids, any parent would be proud to have them.

Encouraging news items are very rare & this programme was very entertaining.

This is the second film I have seen about this family, and I was impressed by the love around them all but it was very obvious to me that some of the children did feel things were going too far and felt a bit left out. The father must work very hard, getting up so early to go to the bakery and then back to help get the children ready for school etc, then back again to work. Let's hope the stress doesn't make him ill. There was very little time between the last two babies and again, it makes you wonder how much longer the woman's body can keep producing healthy children without cost to herself. They certainly have a nice home, a smart kitchen and nice things. They get a large sum in child benefit but I wonder if the new benefit rules will apply to them, and cause their income to drop, due to their current income.

Could you imagine being on holiday at a complex and seeing their tribe turn up lol? Not sure I would want to be there at the time.

All power to them but I think the parents should take stock and maybe call time on the baby making if only to give themselves a chance to be one to one with some of the smaller children as they grow and to make time to nurture the other children before they become young adults with the responsibilities it brings in such a household.

yes PP I received no family allowance when my first was born in 1963......then given for our second child (through Nat.Ins.)

If I recall this is now the 2nd programme to show this family.

I know I saw one about them around 18mths ago.

They are fantastic. The children are amazing.

I have no problem with people having children, just do not expect others to pay you for doing so.

I was born in 1953 and my parents go NO money for me. Child Benefit was brought for the first child just after I left school in 1969. And as they had no other children the state never helped them at all. Thankfully I had lovely grandparents who helped out.

There are some lovely households with a good splattering of children.....on benifits,,,,,,,I'm just glad this family hasnt give any cause to be labled scroungers because of their large family.

Mind I dont think they soley manage on a single wage and could get some help.

I think they will have a hard job getting rid of their younger brood,as none will want to leave such a happy contented home life....... :-D.

I assumed the same GB but was pleasantly surprised.

Grandmother looked a bit fraught Janet but you could see she loved the children.....grandfather looked bewildered lol

Kay I thought the same both parents work soo hard,mind they are young,wonder how the house will be when it's full of teenagers ;-) to be fair though the older children seemed to adore the young ones. Beautiful children :-D

I did and give 100% credit to them,,,,,,what a lovely family to be brought up in,,,,,children were just wonderful and couldnt have had more lovely parents.

They manage their house and family 99% better than some with just 1 or 2 children.

I watched most of it and was glad I wasn't that Grandma being called upon to help out, but in fairness to the family there seemed to be a lot of love and care there.-jl

Hi Sharron yes it certainly showed how much those parents loved their children and interesting to learn that both parents were adopted when young.

I originally thought, when I first read of the programme, 'oh here we go again folk having big families and living off benefits'.But no they work in their bakery and don't receive hand-outs....very refreshing.

I did. Wish I had been one of that family.
