Ooh I'll send my mother then ;-) Im 36 but I dress like a teenager according to my kids so I wont go lol. Ive been reading about bath bombs exploding and candle wax bursting into flames in the saucepan.........am rapidly becoming disillusioned with this!! :-(

Be careful with the bath bombs. They've been known to explode! Not joking.

Best not to keep them in a glass jar.

You may find it hard to get the citric acid. Chemists tend not to sell it because it is used to cut one of the drugs,heroin I think.Probably best to send the tweediest person you know to get it or they will face the third degree.

I have some which I bought from a winemaking supplier

no, it's fizz bombs, i found it in the Nov/ Dec edition of "yours" magazine....

4oz, citric acid, 8oz baking soda,6oz cornflour,measuring cup,fine sieve,
2oz sugar, spray bottle,water,6 drops food colouring,pipette,10-15 drops essential oil,spoon,ice cube tray.
add citric acid , baking soda,cornflour to measuring cup, pass through a fine sieve into mixing bowl, add sugar.
fill spray bottle with water and add food colouring.Spritz mixture lightly intil damp but not fizzy, you can pack it with your hands,.
using pipette add essential oil to your liking.
mix ingredients until colour is even, if it starts to dry out spritz it lightly.
press firmly into ice cube tray, dry overnight then gently remove cubes, decorate with ribbons etc and transfer to jars. i think you would get citric acid from the chemists.

Soaps need a curing time so cant be used straight way,.and should imagine bath bombs do aswell.

visit a Lush shop and see all they on offer,it may give you some idea to the end product.

Scented candles are are easy to make,

I really want to make soap and bath bombs with my daughters but would appreciate some advice on where to buy ingredients (yes I've googled, but so much comes up, I would prefer recommendations). Also does anyone have particular websites that they prefer to use, ie for simple instructions or novel ideas etc etc. I haven't attempted this yet so I want something easy! Thankyou. xx
