A friend who had Sky wanted to cancel her contract with them. She telephoned Sky and explained that the contract was in her husbands name and that he had recently died. As it was her husband who watched the Sky programmes and not her she wanted to cancel the contract. She was repeatedly told that the contract could only be cancelled by the person in whose name it was in. She repearedly told them that this wasn't possible, he had died. Eventually she gave up.. A couple of days later a male neighbour phoned Sky said he was the person who had died and cancelled the contract! |

When my husband passed away I had to cancel his internet account. I spoke to the provider and explained what had happened. They informed me that they needed to speak to the account holder, I had to go from one person to another repeating my story. It took me three days to finally get them to accept what I was asking them to do, this was only after I had faxed a copy of his death certificate. All of this was so so distressing added to which I could not understand the people on the other end of the telephone speaking from India in a very strong accent. |

Oh gosh, we're going to have fun cancelling my late mum's Sky then - especially as it was in her husbands name - and he died 2 years ago.............. |

Maggie just pretend to be your mother and if they say it was in your Dad's name get your brother to cancel. |

That's a good idea Sue, but it would have been difficult in my case to pretend to be my husband. |

When we first had Sky my OH worked long and late hours. We sent them his written permission for me to deal with them on his behalf. I haven't tested it with wanting to cancel though!! |
