Hi Mary and Ann.sorry crossed posts there.

Mary it really is scarey how much she must have spent on things she will never use.

Ann the silly bits will go to charity but the more useful and dearer new items I will have to take to Spain and what is no use to me I shall do a table top sale. Thankfully I am not shipping by weight but getting a man and van so a couple more boxes shouldn´t make a difference. Mind you the tansit van has gone up to a luton box van because there was somethings I just having got it in me to throw or give away.
Mum used to answer all the charity stuff also but I have cancelled all direct debits.

Morning Wend, I´m doing okay just taking a coffee break as I´ve done nearly 3hrs now and it´s time to get on the phone to relevant authorities.
I´m nearly there mind just the nitty gritty still to do, unfortunately for me it´s also the fiddly like the glass wear, dinner sets and the things of value to her and me. Trust me to leave the breakables to last.

Hope all is well with you and sweetheart <3

Yes that is sad Uzzi, when my Dad was alive and still living at home he used to answer all those junk mail ads, goodness knows what he spent and sent to charities. It is a form of lonliness I'm sure.

What on earth are you going to do with it all?

After my dad died mom bought so much stuff it was unbelievable - lots of friends said the same after their moms lost their partners - spending was a substitute.
But yes it is sad.

Love Mary xx

Morning Uzzi - yes, that is very sad. Sounds as if you've still got your work cut out - how are you doing?

As you all know I am packing up Mums house. I have finally got to the top of the wardrobes and the nooks and crannies where things were boxed.

It´s not old things boxed up but brand new things 2 x 5 cast iron pan sets, storage jars galore, moulinex mixer, coffee perc. x 3 a coffee maker, a hoover and a dustmaster, portable tv´s x 2. sets of coasters x 10 to name a few. (believe me that is not even the surface of the boxes)

I mention these things because not only does Mum not cook and never has, she already has all these things in the house. The same went for clothes there are a lot of catalogue clothes still in their packaging and in some cases still in the outer postage packaging.

I have come to the conclusion that Mum was lonely (I knew she was) and this was her way of a) getting to see somebody ie the postman B) getting to talk to some one ie the sales people on the end of the phone and the postman when he had to knock on the door c) having some thing to do when the goods, catalogues etc came in the post and d) giving the neighbours the impression that lots of people cared about her because they sent her gifts.

Sad isn´t it.
