Having lost a bit of weight round my middle, I am having to replace elastic in lots of clothes, skirts, pj trousers etc and I have been getting mine in Sainsburys. They do varying widths and black or white. I could re use the elastic in the clothes if they didn't have this stupid way of stitching the elastic to the fabric so you can't just pull it through and alter it. Now my waistbands are thicker cos I have to leave the original elastic in and then add a second piece that's shorter. The thing that annoyed me most was the washing instructions : To sustain elasticity it is recommended to handwash only! How daft is that? |

Try asking for elastic. Knicker elastic is too narrow for a waist hem and is probably not called that any more. |

There was a store, called Wellworths, based on Woolworths, in Dorchester. It's now expanded and changed it's name to Wellchester. |
