YES it is. Cornwall was one of our holiday destinations when our daughter was young Took 8 hours plus on the motor bike & sidecar to get there. Spent several hollidays in LOOE at a holiday park in a caravan, happy memories.

We always made sure we had a least one Cornish tea in a little tearoom whilst we there, all added to the atmosphere ,

The tearooms we visited all seemed to be run by elderly ladies .

I LOVE scones and enjoy them either with lashings of butter only, or with raspberry jam topped with a very (massive) helping of clotted cream.
When I visit my friend in Cornwall we always go for afternoon cream tea , well, it's compulsory isn't it?

When we go weekly shopping on a weds. we have a Costa Coffee first before hitting the shops in our local big shopping centre. They do nice sultana scones and we share one between us with just butter. Sounds mean but we find if we have a whole one each we have problems eating our dinner when we get home. OH likes to have his dinner at lunchtime and Weds is curry cos its quick to get on the table and can be heating up etc whilst I am unloading the shopping and putting it away.

Cream really wouldnt be a good idea with the scone but can do it with all the trimmings if we having for afternoon snack . LOVELY <3 <3 :-D :-D

Just had scones for a mid afternoon snack, it reminded me a few weeks ago I was discussing with someone from Cornwall the proper way to eat scones (whichever way you pronounce it) either jam first with cream on or Devon style cream first, then jam on top.

How do you eat them?

My personal cholesterol boosting method is a warm fruit scone cut in half and both halves topped as follows.

First a good coating of salted butter spread with strawberry jam then treated to a generous blob of whipped double cream (or clotted as an option) finally topped with half a strawberry. The main art in this method is keeping it all balanced on the trip from plate to mouth!
