can anyone please give me some advice please.
i have just got an email out of the blue from a
makoyannis chambers and associates
atherns greece.
saying 20.5 million euros left behind by late steven clulow
wanting me to get in touch as soon as possible as it could be of mutual benifit to them. they have left me there email address.
the thing is i do have clulows in my tree
it was my great great grandmother that was called sarah clulow.
i dont know were they have got my email address from so it is a bit puzzeling what should i do.
please help.

Personally I would delete it as it sounds very much like a scam.

If you answered the email the person who has sent it will know it is a live email addy and more than likely email you again asking for you to send money before they release the money to you..

Don't answere it..

I think it's a Scam, this is probably the same message but with a different name (Joseph Chang)

Its an absolute scam.

Delete it and any others you get like it. They haven't targeted you specially, they will send out thousands of simalar messages. They could have got your email from anywhere.

The scam works by you replying. They will then ask for your bank details and will ask for money to be sent to them by Western Union to help to pay 'fees' to get the money released. They keep asking for more money until you stop sending. Its very easy to get drawn in.

Well done for being suspicous of this.

Sadly very difficult to catch these criminals. They can be based anywhere in the world.

Would a reputable legal company (or any company for that matter) have a Yahoo email address?

It angers me that everyday someone tries to rip me off with some scam or other but government just shrugs and says nothing to be done.

If each time we went down the high street we had to fight off a mugger or pickpocket the govenment would fall in a matter of days for failing to protect us.

Why can't they create a cyber police force and reply using something to bring the sites down as soon as it's decided that they are dodgy?

wouldnt a legal above board company that youve never had contact with conduct their buisness by cold email? anything of this nature is done the legal way......

You see a lot of these emanating from Nigeria in particular ..... all along the same lines, though.
And yes, all known Scams.

If you ever receive an email and are not sure whether it is genuine or not, one option is to look up the IP address from which it came.
This is not as complicated or baffling as it may sound - it is quite easy to find the IP address and then trace it using sites such as whois.net
This doesn't always work but is another tool in your toolbox.
If anyone wants to know how to do this (in really simple terms) just give me a shout.

Few days ago I had two e-mails with my daughters name should have twigged it was not from her as she lives in SA and e-mail was from England.
