It was a bed and breakfast I believe?

"Delivering her judgment, Miss Recorder Moulder said: "In my view the application of the regulations to the defendant's bed and breakfast establishment does not prevent her from holding her religious beliefs but she has chosen to operate a commercial business for financial purposes.

"The business is conducted from her home but it is still a business"

See the court judgement..

bet they wouldn't have dared to sack if they were another religion other than christian.
mustn't upset the ethnics
same when a couple refused to allow same sex couples in their guest house on religious grounds they go sued( they also refused unmarried couples of opposite sex on the same basis)fare enough if it was commercial hotel but when it is also your own home you should have some say on what happens in it.
i beleive they got variouse threat and hate mail as well

A registrar is appointed by a government body to perfom a public duty for all ,if personal feelings come into it to refuse to do that duty then sack them as they arent commited to carry the full extent of that appointed employment,,,.imo.

About three years ago, a registrar lost her job because she felt unable to conduct civil partnership ceremonies.

I don't think they should be forced - have a feeling though that a registrar refused to marry a same sex couple in a register office and she was reprimanded

Joy

Joy Report 9 Feb 2013 19:33

Hypothetically speaking, supposing a same sex couple wanted to marry, whether it be in a church / other building of religion or a register office or other wedding venue, if any clergy or registrar felt uncomfortable about conducting the ceremony, should they be forced to do so?

Off topic bu Cocoa John's account of the origins of Tesco and its name are not entirely correct. The finance came from a Jewish family, Edme.
