anti virus software

Hi all, has anyone got any advice about which anti virus software ie, norton etc which is the best to use.

I would be grateful for any advice offered.
I know this has been debated before but cant seem to find it. :-S :-S

I find that microsoft security essentials is as good if not better than norton and it,s free. give it a try.

I have Panda which seems quite effective.
For a free one try AVG.

I,ve moved from McAfee toMicrosof Essentials,it seems better to me. and as is said, its free.

You have a number of options.

Freebies - if you don't have an aversion to Microsoft then try Security Essentials.
Other good free ones are AVG and Avast. Make sure you download from the correct site or use a reputable site such as Cnet.

For paid ones you have to remember that you need to pay to renew your subscription each year. This ensures your virus definitions are kept up to date.
Of the better ones I think McAfee has the edge over Norton.
Also consider Bitdefender and Trend Micro.

Many paid for packages only include a license for one computer so you may also wish to consider this - or pay for a multi-computer license.

If buying, then don't buy direct from the suppliers website. You can save an awful lot of money by looking on sites such as ebay and Amazon.

Finally, also consider installing anti-spyware software and enable your firewall if it is not included with the anti-virus software.
