It has just been announced that Richard Briers the actor has died aged 79.

Thats the second one today they announced Derek Battey from Mrs & Mrs has died also.

A very fine actor and sure he'll always be remembered for 'The Good Life'
Also remember Derek Batey from the tv show.

Very sad, I read recently that he was ill. Fine actor, and loved his gardening also.

He wrote an article in the newspaper last week about the fact that he had smoked all his life & was now in the final stages of emphysema.
From the way he wrote I think he thought he had longer than a week left.

I have given up trying to find any information on (1) Mother of George Wotherspoon - he was born 1759 in Old Monklands. (2) When James Patrick Clusker born 1890 married Mary Ellen Bryant in USA. (3) Information on Thomas Wotherspoon born 1901 in Fife, lived in the Huddersfield area in 1952. Photo is of me in the cloisters of Iona Abbey.

I too read the article last week, he said how supportive Prunella Scales had been to him during his illness. R.I P. Richard after giving us a lot of laughs.

And Derek Battey too, so many of the older generation of entertainers leaving us.
