Thank you, she is such a lovely girl and is very upset by this, she had just got a change of job within the company too to give her better hours.

AnninGlos, I am sorry to read that your future Granddaughter in Law will be affected, I hope that the business can be saved, if not I wish her every success in finding a new job.

Many years ago I worked for an American manufacturing company, and at their US plant they actually had a "planned obsolescence department" whose job it was to ensure that every part of the machinery they produced would start failing, one by one, after the guarantee period for the machine was up.

This is affecting my future Granddaughter in law who works at the spinning mill at Buckfast. Looks like she may be out of a job. A shame as she has worked there a long time -drives 20 miles there and back to work. She is going to find it hard to get another job.
Strangely my OH's mother also worked at the same mill in the 50s.

Such a shame as the area is quite depressed as it is. :-(

I agree the quality could not be beaten. We replaced our lounge hall stairs and landing a couple of years ago, nothing wrong with it, just a bit dated. We brought Axminster and it will probably see us out. :-D

True, I,ve had their carpeting for many years it seems to last forever, I suppose its a bit like the Old Motorbikes (Black Shadow) made too good so went out of production.

I agree and the fashion for wood and laminated flooring must be hitting carpet sales

Around 400 workers at Axminster Carpets face an uncertain future as the company today confirmed its intention to call in administrators.
