When Woolies went into Administration, I think there was some sort of Government backed scheme to pay statutary Redundancy payments.

If there isn't someone on here with specialist knowledge, try asking CAB or browse/ask on the boards of http://boards.fool.co.uk/Index.aspx. Alternatively, ask the DHSS

The only personal info from my experience is when OH *did* have redundency pay - he signed on to get his NI contributions, but didn't initially get any money. He had been given the £ x so many weeks in accordance with his entitlement and had to wait until the x weeks had passed.

Not for me I must add.

If somebody is made redundant when a firm goes into administration, and there is no or very little redundancy payment, what financial help would they get? Would it be job seekers? If so how long are they likely to be without money?
