Do you wear a waist slip under unlined skirts?

The few you can find in the shops seem to come in either black or white.

In my younger days I did wear what my Father called 'Not much more than a belt!'. I have never worn trousers preferring long skirts. I have some skirts that do not go quite down to my ankles but are unlined so need a slip to go under them.

Why I am asking is that whilst out shopping I told my companions I was making a couple & needed wide elastic. I was told that people no longer wore slips.

I think they still sell slips, but as you say mainly in black or white. I don't often wear skirts as I prefer trousers but when I do wear them I go 'slipless'.

It is mostly the thin cotton Summer ones that need another layer to prevent all seeing my far from good looking legs :-0

I make cotton ones to go under floaty summer dresses and skirts that are see through with the sun behind me but don't bother under winter skirts. Although I usually wear trousers in the winter.

M&S sell white cream and black slips in different lengths

Personally I always wear trousers and in summer knee length or calf length.

My mum always wore trousers, her reason being she had terrible varicose veins and wanted to keep them hidden.

I could never wear slips under my skirts, it feels like wearing two skirts! :-D

Go on, I know its a girlie thread, but it reminds me of the layers and layers of paper-nylon frillies that were the rage in the fifties/sixties!!

I don't wear slips

I try to buy skirts and dresses that are lined, but when I need a lining I do buy some, my problem is it is more difficult to find then when you are less than Five feet Six, I usually have to shorten them.

If I wear unlined skirts or dresses, I always wear a slip.
Saves the skirt part riding up!! No-one wants to see my rear end exposed :-S

I almost always wear a slip under skirts and don't wear trousers much at all. In winter I wear leggings and boots under my skirts as my arthritic knees suffer with the cold and I find leggings warmer and cheaper than constantly buying tights which ladder. If I don't wear a slip I find the skirts sometimes cling a bit too much.
In summer I will wear a thin slip under skirts that are a bit see through. I have made cotton ones in the past but usually pick up slips in charity shops, mostly like new and have a lovely heavyweight purple one which is very useful in winter. Have also got white, cream and black ones. When I cleared my Mum's things after she died, I brought away her full length slips which fitted me and were really comfy under dresses. I still have them but don't use them due to wearing separates more than dresses now.

Carol, my Dad used to call my mini skirts pelmets lol, I could make one out of a remnant of fabric in those days lol
