It was a totally unnecessary question from someone who obviously doesn't know Cynthia well.....and asked after she said she was finished for the night. Not very nice at all :-(

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 25 Feb 2013 00:17

he also asked it of someone who had said in her previous post, the one just before GP posted, and which he must have read, that she was going to bed ........

......... so is obviously not around to respond herself.

Maybe I am over-reacting ........................ but I did not like the question, and thought it completely inappropriate

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 25 Feb 2013 00:15

let's be honest here

I did NOT say GP WAS stalking

I actually said..............

"it begs the question .............

are you stalking her?"

he asked a personal question .............. and then invited her to "come join us"

In return, I ASKED if he could be stalking her ............I did not accuse him of doing

It was a most inappropriate question to ask, and completely off-topic.

"John nearly broke my Geordie heart in his last post. The scars will never heal. The damage has been done unless someone says a PRAYER for me.GP"

This is the sort of post you have been contributing to this thread, GP. Why you have bothered when you are clearly upset that we can discuss Catholic priests fairly sensibly and you are more interested in poking fun and proving just how funny you are :-S :-S

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 25 Feb 2013 00:11

Stalking!!!!......WTF?

come on...perspective anyone? CAn we not stop using such immotive language? It's hardly stalking in the real sense of the word !!!!!

GP's comments weren't exactly relevant and I don't necessarily feel they were pertinent but stalking? PLEASE !!!!!!

is he sitting outside Cynthia's house...logging her every move?

NO

BLIMEY...over reaction.com.

Mind GP ...your comment was a bit *odd* but I don't think that classifies it as stalking.....

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 25 Feb 2013 00:02

"This" being the question asked ...........

GeordiePride Report 24 Feb 2013 22:19

Cynthia - do you ever let your hair down and break away from religion and join people like me for a great night out. Come and join us.

GP

--------------------------------

People who know Cynthia, and she has been posting for many years, know that she very rarely talks about religion, and then only on certain threads.

the rest of the time, one can never guarantee what she is going to say, but it is usually funny!

............... and there is of course, also the suggestion in that posting of GP's, that any one who is talking about religion does not know how to have fun

whatever "fun" might be

I have to say that my experience with religious people is completely the reverse .............. they do know how to have a good time :-D

John

GP is just having a go at the very nice, friendly, uncomplicated person known as Cynthia.

I find the question he asked unnecessary, has nothing at all to do with the question posed on this thread, and thus off-topic.

I don't know whether he finds it "funny".

I think it is out of order .................... and the type of question that might be asked by a stalker.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 24 Feb 2013 23:59

Certainly ....................

if you will explain why you made the posting about Cynthia, and why it was not a completely unnecessary question

The optics, the optics, are not good

GeordiePride

GeordiePride Report 24 Feb 2013 23:56

Sylvia - I think you are out of order of accusing me of stalking any memember on GR. I have never starlked anyone in my life and never will so I would ask you politely to retract that statement.

GP

GP. I have no idea what you are on about. Are you saying you don't believe in God and your idea of a good time is to drink a lot, crack a lot of jokes. And you feel that Christians don't enjoy their lives and are miserable people.

In which case, why contribute to a thread about whether Catholic priests should be allowed to marry? Presumably you couldn't care a fig one way or the other.

SylviaInCanada

???????????????????

GeordiePride Report 24 Feb 2013 23:35

Sylvia- I'm sorry but thats the way I feel about this situation and I will not change my mind.

GP

----------------------

there is no situation

you asked a very personal question about another poster on this thread

a question that has nothing whatever to do with the topic, or with any other posting

in other words, a completely unnecessary question

and you asked it of someone who will not be posting at this time of

which begs the question ..................

why did you ask it???????

Errol. There was a long and very comprehensive post earlier in this thread that would answer all your questions.

This tradition of priests being celibate really stems from the Council of Trent in 16th century.

Some priests were celibate before that. But not that many . And thank goodness. My earliest ancestor in the male line was a Vicar (incumbent) in Worcestershire in 1299. Now the church was all Roman Catholic in Britain then (long before Henry VIII fell out with the Bishop of Rome) and my 18 x gt grandfather was a married man with family. So were most priests at that time.

The Roman Catholic Church will revoke this rule about single male priests soon. Simply because the right men will not come forward. So to maintain the priesthood they are going to have to come to terms with married men, and - dare I say it - women. Most Catholics would readily accept that sort of change - and those that don't can be accomodated and kept in the flock by careful management.

Sylvia I agree - sounded slightly harsh but not unnecessary - maybe sometimes people get a little wrapped up in threads

SylviaInCanada

GP

I have no idea why you are asking C that question ...... it sounds rather sarcastic and sardonic to me.

as well as completely unnecessary and off topic

BUT, I can assure you that C does indeed forget about religion and let her hair down ................ with people who she knows are her friends.

ok Cynthia although I do think Catholic beliefs are pertinent as far as this thread is concerned.
Thread title is "Should Catholic Priests be allowed to marry" so just maybe maybe discussing Cartholicism has some relevance but hey ho - will talk on your religious thread about it if you so wish.
Sleep well and will look forward to good, informed, accurate and adult debate tomorrow

Yep, born into SA.....but moved to C.of E. 45 years ago. As for the Catholic beliefs, we'll be going off topic if we discuss that here Errol and I don't want to upset OFITG......but I'm willing to chat on the Christian thread. Could we make it tomorrow please? Have been up since around 6.30am and am rapidly losing whatever mental powers I posses.... Thanks. :-D
