Really news?

On Friday, the news was interrupted to go live to South Africa to listen to over an hour of summing up on the Oscar Pistorius case, the news they interrupted was about the BBC and Jimmy Savile, I would of thought that more important to Britain's.

Today, one of the "top" bits of news is about Carl Pistorius, brother of Oscar, who is awaiting trial about the death of a motorcyclist, in a traffic accident. Do the press think the two cases are linked? If not why would Carl Pistorius' case have interest to us here?

I could go on about other "news" but it's Sunday, and I don't want to tax anyone's brains too much :-D

It's the 24-hr coverage!!

In order to fill in the time, we get speculation about things that are going on but not yet resolved. That isn't news, it's pontification :-D. They ask lots of 'experts' what they think of XYZ and what is likely to happen, then they tell us what actually happened, and then spend time telling us WHY what they thought would happen didn't.... :-P

But people read/watch it.
As far as the Pistorius case is concerned, they interrupted because the Savile item was a prepared piece whereas the Pistorius was live.
Having said that, Lynda, yep it's Sunday and my brain hurts.

Sheila, when the Pope decided to stand down, there was a big rush by reporters to get to Rome, just to ask Joe, or should that be Giuseppe public, to ask what they thought about it, they may as well gone to there local Italian restaurant, and asked them, for what good it did, unless of course they thought by being in Rome, the Pope would look in and change his mind :-D

This news was broadcast on a radio station though Kay, and not a news dedicated station and would South Africans be that interested in Carl Pistorius, bet most have never heard of him, beside that, the case goes back to 2011,nothing new has happened in the case either. :-D

Muffy the bit about Savile was to do with the BBC involvement/non involvement

There are lots of instances where a reporter (plus all the team, probably about 15 people plus a truck) are sent to film a presenter outside a venue when it could have just as easily been done from the studio.
The other thing that annoys me is when Ministers leak in advance what they are going to say about policy in a speech and to rub salt into the wound the speech is at a school or factory or something when the only correct place to announce policy is in the House of Commons.
