The ex-husband of one of our carers, a digger driver, has died.

His coffin is going to be taken to the church in the bucket of a digger.

Way to go lol - did he request that (even in a jokey way)? Spose it is no different to firemen going on fire engines, and there is a sidecar hearse as well.

As I live a very short distance from the village graveyard, it would be pointless, and a complete waste of money to pay for a hearse to convey me to my final resting place.
I have a perfectly good wheelbarrow in the garden, so have left instructions that I am happy to go that way.
Music in the church will be Queen's rendition of "Another One Bites The Dust", followed by Gracie Fields "Wish Me Luck As You Wave Me Goodbye"

My late father in law always said that coffins and funerals were a waste of money so he would be happy to be rolled up in an old piece of carpet and dropped into the lake. When we cleaned out his shed we found an old carpet and we were almost hysterical with laughter remembering what he had said :-D

My d.i.l. From Melbourne who died of cancer in Fiji unexpectedly at the time...2010...had a Fijian funeral ,wrapped in a native blanket and funeral pyre on the beach..a lot of people were aghast at this and others said ...what a way to go.
I think that is the way she would have wanted it.
Her ashes were scattered with a ceremony on the ocean.
Son and children went back a year after on a sort of pilgrimage .

My 3year old Grandson loved to sit on his Granddad’s tractor, pretending to drive it, when he died he was transported down the church drive on the back of it. No ‘black crows’ handled that small white coffin, or attended this service; in life it would have scared him. The full church congregation sang ‘The wheels on the bus’ his favourite song.
He would have been 21 this year & in my mind I can still see that tractor, driven by his Granddad, washed, polished & bright blue giving him his last tractor ride. It is not a sad memory, but the last chapter of the story that was his short life with us.

I want to be cremated in a coffin with 36 hoops placed round the inside of the coffin and a bottle of malt whisky from my collection placed in each one - I want to go out with a BANG :-D :-D :-D

A farmer friend of ours who restored vintage tractors was killed by a bull.

He was transported to his funeral on the back of one of his tractors,which broke down climbing a steep hill approaching the church.

RIP Les,you were late for your funeral,but never late delivering the milk.
