No, When I went to School they had the "School Board Man" who went to your house to see why you were,nt there.No proper excuse and there was trouble.

Oh c'mon ,isn't anyone going to own up ! ;-)

Yes , I did and at the time there were peeps around called the 'Kid Catchers' and my senior school had a long drive visible from the school , so it had to be after lunchtime.
Miss morning ...parents would know , and so would teachers..failing to enrol.

Hated secondary school after being at a lovely primary, soon got to be a dab hand at writing my own sick notes, got caught in the end of course but no regrets, in the grammar stream the idea of spending a whole afternoon making coconut ice in domestic science seemed a no brainer and as for sitting on a coach being driven halfway across London to jump hurdles in some frreezing cold field no way.

Nope I never ever did, for one reason I adored school and the other was I would of got the pointy finger and the scarey voice of Mum, which was enough in itself to put me off sagging school :-0

I DID AND WE HAD A TRUANT OFFICER IN OUR AREA,WORD SOON GOT ROUND WHEN HE WAS ABOUT

I did. Many times. I used to turn up for morning assembly and register, then walk out again. Always with at least one friend.

It was never mentioned by anyone at the school!

I actually went to school before the eligible time;
My sister is 4 years older than myself , the school was directly below the old tram road / lane below our house.
From my garden I could see the children playing , and often went out of our gate to talk to the children at the school railings .
My parents and the teachers noticed this so agreed that it would be OK for me to go to school ( infants , tho I was only 3) there was no nursery school in the village.
I loved junior school , I just got a bit rebellious when my teenage hormones kicked in ;-)

Oh yes, would have liked to!!

Only trouble was that parent worked on the high street where
all the truants used to hang at out.

So I would have faced enormous wrath!


I was however, the "lookout" because I was small
and had an angelic looking face! :-D

Once. I think I was 15.

There was an inter-school sports day, I had forgotten to get the permission slip signed by my parents (I was the sort of kid who didn't dare sign it myself).

Students who didn't go to the sports day had to stay at school & study in the library.

My friend & I thought that wasn't such a good idea, so we left at lunchtime.

Had a lovely afternoon at her house, watching TV & giggling.

We thought we'd get into trouble, but nobody missed us :-D
