I enjoyed it too but at the end stretched credibility too far :-.....twin sister spoke to other from the grave, hence falling stones.
So my take of the story was she 'told' sister to change into her and point to her murderer ? :-(......one thing a good story usually does though and that's to encourage reader to think about events and talk about them.....it did that alright ;-) :-D

I think Caitlin and Hattie were supposed to be twins? They were played by the same actress.

I enjoyed it, even though it went on a bit too long. Liz's point that 'Hattie' pointing the finger at the end was, in fact, her sister dressed up makes a much more satisfactory ending.

Lesley Manville's character (Gail?) made me hoot :-D

We always use subtitles as well as OH does not have the best hearing.

I thought there were quite a few mysteries which actually added to the enjoyment, and it was refreshing different. However I did find the most unbelievable part was when Linus's father explaining why he was behaving so badly. I don't think this would result in beating up your son!

I was a bit perplexed at the end, it was very strange. I also found some of the dialogue too quiet to hear, luckily I recorded each part so was able to wind back and listen again, some phrases I missed tho. I find that with a lot of programmes now, the music often drowns the dialogue or the actors don't enunciate clearly enough if it's an accent, so it's easy to miss things.

I thought it was the dead girl's sister dressing up as Hattie to point the finger but not sure.

I got very confused with the different accents the Linus' father used, thought he was American or Canadian to begin with but then the accent seemed to slip.

I think there were too many puzzles, like why did the woman and child return and what happened to Fiona etc etc

That woman married to Malcolm the man who hanged himself, she was a bit wierd, Couldn't understand why with a big house the son always parked outside on the road, wasn't there a drive?

Curiouser and curiouser!

I always use Subtitles when they start mumbling. When I watched every episode of The Wire, I used the subtitles all the time :-D

I wondered about the revenge bit too and don't think I missed any of the story.

Also hate when actors talk with back to camera or mumble.....I've had ears checked lately and I know I'm not going deaf :-|

Ruined a good serial in my opinion :-(

Jean,

Agree about the dialogue being difficult to hear in some productions, that's when I switch on the sub-titles :-D

What a strange play , would have helped if you could here all the dialouge, why do actors whisper now, the really good actors always speak clearly , spoilt it for us... wonder what the guy who was framed did to the policemans wife to make it such a revenge , alas we will never know or did I and my family miss it ......

That's the way I took it to be....but then the 'grass/hair/proof was taken from the plastic case and changed to a pebble ( from dead girl)?? soooo who knows what would happen next??

:-S :-|

I hate endings like that :-(

Am I right in thinking the ex policewoman's hubby was the murderer and she framed the lad's father?

Cos if that's wrong I am completely lost :-D :-(

Mauatthecoast

Mauatthecoast Report 8 Mar 2013 15:00

Yes I thought it had a strange ending.I enjoyed the twists and turns ....although rather too many suspects.

I had decided who the murderer could be, so was a trifle disappointed when it finished in the way it did. . and with girl brought back to life :-S... had to make our own conclusions! :-|
....but I loved the black comedy role of the widow!! seeing a pet dog being fed from a bowl will never be the same again lolol :-0

I stopped watching after the first one...too much close ups of mysterious, suspicioous looking folk with buckets of red herrings! Am intrigued about the ending though so I better find out who did it <3

I loved it up until tonight.

I thought the ending was a bit of a fudge. It wasn't billed as a supernatural thriller yet had a supernatural ending.

I'll watch it again today to see if it makes more sense.

I have. Interesting ending, but it took so long to get there, I would have preferred a 'proper' ending.

I won't be watching it again...
