Mum's are very special and to often we tend to take them for granted and it is only when we lose them that we miss them, lost mine in 1988 - Miss You Mum <3

If Roses grow in Heaven, Lord
please pick a bunch for me,
Place them in my Mother's arms
and tell her they're from me.

Tell her I love her and I miss her
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for awhile.

Remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
but there's an ache within my heart
that will never go away.

“FOREVER”

There’s a hole inside of me
It appeared some time ago:
The day my mother passed away…
Tell me, why did she have to go?


I’ve tried to fill the hole up
With other family
And want to keep her memory alive,
So I started her family tree

My search has brought me many a kin
Who’ve helped to fill that hole,
But I realize now, there’ll always be
An emptiness in my soul.

I guess that’s just the way it is
With people and their mothers…
A special bond exists with them
That can’t be matched by others


How many times had I heard her say?
“Someday I won’t be here…”?
I thought I’d always have her, though.
Now all I have is tears.

I know she’s with HER mother now
That’s not what makes me sad;
It’s that I never asked her about our past,
Now, too late. I want to know so bad


So please God, when you see my mam
Give her all my love
And tell all my kin that I’ll see them again
When I join them up above

Love you mum and miss you terribly, even more sad that you have two beautiful great grandchildren that you never saw, but I know you will be watching over them from up abovexxxxxxxx

For my mother who died on June 9th 1986

My Mum's birthday and Mothers' day usually fall in the same week so this time is especially poignant. Mum was 85 when she died so had a good and happy life but at this time of year I still miss sending her cards.

LilyL, that's almost word for word the message my mother had in her autograph book, I think written by her own Mother, who died when my Mum was just 16 and baby of the family.

I felt a bit tearful the other day seeing the cards in the racks and not having to buy one for my Mum.

Liz, I actually read this poem in a magazine years ago, and made a note of it. It does describe exactly how I feel. Your poor mother losing her mother at so young an age, at least I had mine till I was 43, for which I am very grateful. xx
