Not one of my Favourite cookery programmes Lynda. I much prefer Jamie. The others are old hat. been there done that, so to speak. Jamie is refreshing in his approach to the mundane.

I like Hairy Bikes (except last series), Nigel Slater and Jamie Oliver.

Have to admit I do not have half the spices etc they have in their larder.

MasterChef is a great opportunity for amateur cooks to show their skills and get experience in professional kitchens and top restaurants.

Much more enjoyable that celebrity chefs showcasing their menus and selling their latest books in my opinion.

I like most of the cookery programmes, and record them. I do like MasterChef, for the reasons Jo does, I also like the way they present there food, gives me ideas, so when I cook something simple, it looks more classy :-D

I like the Hairy Bikers, too. (well, I would, wouldn't I!). Went to see them at Norwich last December, but found them a bit OTT on stage, and they kept getting their kit off to show thier new slimmer physiques - not altogether attractive! :-P

Lynda, I agree,

Good presentation on the plate is essential whether cooking for one or for friends and family. Even the most simple dish can look more attractive and taste better. :-)

Was quite hooked last night. Felt quite sorry for the Scottish lass - nothing seemed to go right for her, or for Rowan. Emily looks promising, her cooking is adventurous and quirky. Looking forward to tonight.....

Programme I enjoyed yesterday 'Great British food revival'
with Mary Berry and Jason Atherton.

Mary made lemon ice cream (without a machine) and Jason gave us different ideas when cooking cabbages.

Anyone watch?

I watched Masterchef and wasn't particularly impressed with last night's show. I just hope tonight's show will be better. I really enjoyed the last series.

At 10 o'clock I watched Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares USA and before anyone has a go at me it was after the Watershed time and viewers were warned about the language before the programme started. Personally I don't think the programme would be the same without Ramsay's banter and swearing. Having worked in shipbuilding all my life I can confirm that the Queen's english was not spoken all the time.

Emily is different isn't she Geordie, I thought at first she was going to be useless, but she has a something. I'm not keen on Gordon Ramsey, the swears for the sake of it, and he gets n my nerves

Didn't see that Mau, there are so many cookery programmes on at the moment aren't there, not that I mind :-D

GeordiePride Report 13 Mar 2013 20:31

Hi Lynda,
I thought the same about Emily especially when she made a mess of filletting the fish. As the programme progressed she began to grow on me and I now think she is one to keep an eye on.

Yes, Gordon Ramsey does swear a lot but I just love his banter with these American restaurant owners. His programme also provides an eye opener to the quality and poor storage of the food in these places. I just hope they are not all like that.

Poor Emily, she really went to pieces! What a shame! Mr. Flat Cap man made me laugh - he was a proper bloke. The two boys did really well. Wonder if the young dentist's fellow students had used him for practice - what sparkling gnashers!

Hi Bonnie Lass. Hope yirr aalreet hinny. :-)
Yes you are right, Emily did blow it last night and I hope she has another chance in the future as I do feel she still has something to offer. Even the two contestants that went through had their faults as pointed out by the judges. Looking forward to the next set of contestants.
