Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 15 Mar 2013 06:52

It took me over 7 years and a new partner before I became pregnant after losing my daughter soon after birth so I know the heartache of wondering if and when it will happen. I was very luck and fell the first week of trying again, things didn't go right between me and the fella but I have my lovely son and hope I will have grandchildren or at least one grandchild as he seems to be settled with his lady of 2 years romancing. She already has a little boy of 4 who has many grandparents and extended family including his daddy and stepmum and half brother so I can't see me getting very close to him altho he's a nice little lad (diabetic so has to be injected etc)

My youngest brother, who settled down in his early twenties, hasn't had children, it's never been discussed but I think from things that were said he and my s.i.l. didn't want any.

I always feel for those who wanted children and couldn't have them and wish more could be done for those who struggle to conceive. When I was trying with my daughter's father and nothing happened I used to be so angry if I saw childen mistreated or left outside shops in prams and such, I felt their parents didn't deserve the little ones.

Such a shame Uzzi, Rach, Sharron, Island and Scozz and anyone else wishing and hoping.

I don't want pity and hugs!

I just want to be treated with respect and not be the butt of moronic comments.

I don't really hold with fertility treatment. If you want to conceive and don't then there isprobably a reason for this failure.

Nature wants to breed but she also wants to breed as perfectly as possible and knows when there will be troube ahead.

I once met a woman who was the mother of a young man born greatly handicapped and with no eyes. She said he was great fun,Is this a reason to be living the life Nature never meant you to have?

Also there are people making a great deal of money out of those who cannot conceive. If you can accept that you cannot conceive, your money is your own to build a life without children or with children not naturally your own. If you still chase the dream of giving birth you are committing your money to somebody who will not guarantee success and committing yourself and your time to a great deal of possible heartache and disappointment.

Have no children, never wanted children and have no regrets

I once worked with a girl who said she only had 1 child so that she had someone to look after her when she got old!!! I really lambasted her for her selfishness and also pointed out that there is no guarantee that her son would
a: still be alive
b: still be in the same country/county
c: still be talking to her

That worried her I can tell you.

And I have NEVER been asked why I do not have children, people just seemed to always just accept that I did not have any.

We know at least 3 couples who are childless and 2 couples we are extremely close to. However, I would never dream of asking that question a) it is none of our business and b) could possibly cause heartache by asking.

Completely agree Chris. I don't have any children by choice and I would never dream of asking anyone why they don't have children.

Tell them and then ask them why they do.

I've never been asked why I don't have children of my own but had many assume - say even - that I didn't want them. :-0 :-S

What does niggle me though is the attitude of some parents who regard 'bad mothers' as not being mothers - sorry they are, get over it - or that any criticism of a parent is 'bound to have come from someone who doesn't have kids'.
That'll do for now.
