I do like garlic and prefer my food not to be 'dry' so I like the cream sauces, well any sauces and most herbs as well, just not too hot, so very small amount of chillies.

Just as well he likes garlic. :-D

My OH is not keen on perfumes and scented flowers yet can
stand the smell of curry, ah well can't change him now :-D

Get plenty of kisses from Hubby - he likes garlic, too.
Can still taste quite a bit, but maybe that's why I like plenty of spices and herbs. Makes no difference to basic tastes like salt, sweet, sour and bitterness, and nothing effects the heat of chilli!
sometimes my sense of smell briefly comes back, usually in a shopping mall where the smell of coffe is strong, but only lasts about an hour - strange! :-S

LOL, carry on, not a problem :-D

Interesting that you both have lost your sense of smell and
yet others on here enjoy the smell of spices and herbs. :-)

Now that you mention it Emma NO!! :-(

I definitely had a sense of smell at some point, then had a lot of problems with my sinus and at that time everything smelt pretty nasty (About 20yrs ago)then gradually lost it :-S

Even perfumes are more from memory then sense

Sorry Emma for detracting from your thread :-)

'Emma' Report 27 Mar 2013 14:45

Do you two get much kisses? :-D :-D

GinN

GinN Report 27 Mar 2013 14:39

Stange, isn't it - have you never had a sense of smell, Lolly, or has it just disappeared?
I can smell by memory, sometimes imagine them, in fact. Mine gradually went a couple of years ago. Doctor can't (or won't) do anything about it. :-(

That's interesting I wonder if there is a link? I don't have a sense of smell either.

Yet onions and garlic make my mother heave, so my tastes are not inherited

GinN

GinN Report 27 Mar 2013 14:21

Sounds good to me Lolly! I have practically no sense of smell, so garlic never bothers me. :-D

LollyWithSprinklez

LollyWithSprinklez Report 27 Mar 2013 14:17

GiN ~~~I do eat it raw :-D

If I make a bean soup I have to have some raw cloves of garlic on the side and a nice chunky bread

'Emma' Report 27 Mar 2013 14:16

Lolly I would not be joining you but OH would love it. :-D

'Emma' Report 27 Mar 2013 14:12

Geordie I worked with a lady who every morning came into
work chewing a clove of raw garlic. Yuk

LollyWithSprinklez

LollyWithSprinklez Report 27 Mar 2013 14:10

looks like I am on my own..I like all spices, herbs and seasonings.
I find as i've got older I use more and more before my taste buds are satisfied.

OH will take his food quite bland to my tastes, I marinade everything usually with Carribean seasonings, but go lightly on the chillies as I do find them a bit overpowering

'Emma' Report 27 Mar 2013 14:09

Rose you would be welcome :-) nothing smothered in butter
either, love James Martin but the butter thing turns me off.

Rollo as hot as a Scotch Bonnet or hotter? :-(

GinN

GinN Report 27 Mar 2013 14:06

I love garlic! I could almost eat it raw. Who wants a kiss? :-D

We have a hot chilli plant growing in the kitchen, almost glows red in the dark.
Very handy lol.
Ou est le garlic ?

;-)

:-) Emma and Kay I'm coming round to yours for tea ;-)

I don't like any spicy food no garlic or chillies or any thing vaguely 'hot',
I couldn't go without salt, and vinegar for chips and cucumber lol, , and sometimes mint sauce or parsley sauce home made but really nothing else in the way of herbs.

GinN

GinN Report 27 Mar 2013 13:55

I too love to use spices in foods, as long a it's not too hot. What I can't stand is vinegar. When you add it to anything, that's all you can taste.

'Emma'

'Emma' Report 27 Mar 2013 13:54

My OH loves curries and the hotter the better.
Pepper is not my thing either although a little
salt is fine, it's when a beautiful piece of fish is
smothered in creamy sauce it makes me baulk.
To me I love to taste fresh food be it seafood or
meat.

Emma :-)
