That's ridiculous Allan-what a paltry amount!! $50 per person per day
would be more like it!!! Maybe the WA Government is trying to get some of the money paid out on it's fuel allowance for pensioners...

I wonder how much a week it costs the government to keep the asylum seekers on Christmas Island.

Even taking away the costs for security etc., I'll bet it's more than $50.00

What about the homeless?

Can they get a room & food for $50 a week?

Lots of people on the dole would jump at the chance.

What eejit thought up this scheme?

:-P

Allan Report 14 Apr 2013 23:31

I notice that at the moment the scheme would appear to only be applied in Western Australia :-|

Is that as close as our Federal Pollies want to get to an asylum seeker? :-|

Allan

Allan Report 14 Apr 2013 23:20

A bit rich isn't it, Scozz?

I'm not sure whether the pun was intended or not :-S

$50 for room AND food!!!!

Bread & water?

I expect the Australian Tax Office will take their cut too........ and pensioners should beware!!

We have 4 bedrooms, but none of them are "spare"!

How many spare bedrooms at The Lodge? :-)

Kay????

What you told them Allan ,,,,, build me an extension. ;-) :-D

Allan

Allan Report 14 Apr 2013 22:15

Well we do have two spare rooms but if I was to do B&B I'd want a bit more than $50.00 per person per week :-|

Based on Perth Hotel prices (which are exorbitant) and the fact that we have water views $100.00 per room per night would be reasonable complete with full cooked breakfast of bacon, egg, sausages (pork) mushrooms and hash browns ;-)

Allan Report 14 Apr 2013 21:56

The latest proposal from the Australian Federal Government is that people with spare rooms take in asylum seekers

Now, these aren't people who have had their claims looked at but those who are still awaiting processing.

And for those good souls who do offer a room, the Government will pay the sum of $50.00 per asylum seeker per week!!!
