Hmm, maybe, she's on the '51, '61 and '71.

Edit. Just checked. '51 says 1796, '61 says 1795, '71 says 1796.

Do they get the DOB from a census form?

I don't mind him having them in his tree, but am a bit bemused by him not saying where the tree link is.

Another strange thing.

One of my direct line, (also in his tree) was born in 1795, her baptism is listed on Lancs opc as 6.9.1795. I have 1 tree match for her, but none show up until I change the DOB to 1796. Then I get 4 matches with a DOB 1796. One of them him, 2 are people who are also descendants, but I'm sure have no contact with each other, the last is a contact from here who is remote again. All these contacts have the DOB as 1796. I find it hard to believe they are copied.

Its a common thing,,,,,,they have people who have no real relationship to them,,,,,,,

I had a man in US had a gt gt blood relative,,,,his connection was none only that his gt neices gt aunt was the connection,,,,,very noble to delve so indepth but,really,thats a step to far.and not a link I'd want to unravel to add on my line, it would be a very very watered down gene if any remained.. :-D

I chose to hide the living relatives on my tree for privacy, though I realise they will come up on 'search trees'.

Unfortunately Genes R determines 'living' as anyone on the tree born within the last 120 years without a death date, so some people are hidden who are long since deceased, and who I would have chosen to leave in plain sight.

I have my paternal aunt's husband's family on my tree. My paternal aunt's mother in law was Scandinavian and rare for my tree to have something other than Scotland and the North East. I pursued her partly out of nosiness. If anyone wanted to offer me more info I should probably make the same reply as you got but wouild more than likely just accept the offer..

For example I made contact with someone who had my gt gt aunt on his tree, but he was only 'related' on the very tip of a branch by my gt gt aunt's second husband's first wife so not really interested in having further details.

i have had a couple of people share trees with me for which i am very gratefull but why do people hide some details on trees

Perhaps he's like the one I found.

On another site I realised 1 person had quite a few of my paternal line on his tree, so I contacted him. I did ask him what his connection was with my family.

His answer was - his gt gt aunt married *** ***** (my gt gt uncle), a second marriage for both of them in their late 50s so no children.

He had gone back 2 generations and forward 2 generations in my family because of this marriage :-S

there just a name collector, who do very little or no research, they just copy from other trees, I wouldn't waste my time with them

Noticed some new matches to close rellies in my tree with the same man, so sent him this message.

I know he isn't part of my near family, thought maybe he was a distant 'cousins' child or some such.

Not often stuck for words, but can't decide whether to press him to tell or not.
