Some Pelhams were Earls of Chichester................although living only 10 miles from there, our Pelhams were the lowly ag labs working the land owned by their namesakes.

I prefer it that way :-)

Well, I have Cattermoles in my tree - seems like there's a rather infamous footballer with the same name. My lot came from Suffolk, he didn't so I hope he's not a distant rellie.

I also have Johnsons. Some Johnsons were famous, but there are a lot of Johnsons. My lot were Cornish.

Though, apparently my gg uncle Sylvanus Johnson (known as Herbert) appeared on a 'country' TV programme in the 1950s/60's demonstrating hedge laying.

When I was a little girl, I remember a TV personality/ broadcaster who often visited the home of a neighbour.
As they had the same last name, I knew they were related.
He did not have an unusual surname but it was his FIRST name that was a little strange
Many of you wil remember him in the 1960's for his unique Scottish voice/accent.
Impersonated by everyone and anyone? (and the butt of many jokes)
About 2yrs ago, I was working on one branch of my family and located them on the 1911 census when I realised that he was on it... as their child!
He used his middle name instead of his given name.
(It was his grandmother's maiden name)
This family name ( the one he used as his first name) is on my research list.
I haven't named him as his children will still be living.

EDIT:
All those years ago, he was visiting the family of his late brother
