GR-Why wasn't I warned?

A number of members including myself were given free credits twelve months ago after the site had access problems. These are due to expire 27th.

These were nothing to do with your membership arrangements.

I have been on auto renew for years, it saves so much hassle. The only time I have to update anything is when my nominated card expires and is replaced with a new one.

I had the same message - I didn't buy mine either - they were a gift from GR

Thank you,Joy Kentish Maid for your link-it makes very interesting reading. It makes you wonder what the current GR staff members do
to justify their salaries-increase subscriptions willy nilly, remove a perfectly functional old tree system, only to replace it with an unworkable new model, remove the Hot Matches, etc etc...

Margot.

Edit-I'm off to bed now.

The email I have just received say the credits I bought in Nov 2011 ( free from Genes not bought) would expire on 27th April - but my membership doesn't run out until 27th May.

??????????????????

Dear Budgie Rustler,

That's exactly what happened to me.I'm sure that last time I renewed I had a "special rate" which obviously didn't apply
this time.(They said this time that if I paid for 12 months I would save X dollars, which is still more than I have paid previously.) I raced down to the post office, sent off the postal note, and couldn't post any threads or posts for 6 days until the cheque was cleared. That's why I would appreciate some notice next time, not a message that my membership has expired. It's too late then! It's nice to know that I'm not the only one that it's happened to-thank you for your feedback.

Margot.

I have just renewed it was tough decision I can tell.
I wasn`t notified either. The way I found out was when I came on the site and couldn`t use the boards, I then discovered my membership had lapsed .

I think they are doing this now because they don't have to offer you the same deal as your last one. ;-)

Crafty way of making you pay the present day going rates as far as I can make out. :-)

My auto renew is off and I normally get an email about two weeks before. I then pay by debit card once it expires

I'm very disappointed-I got an email from GR saying "Margot, did you know that your membership has expired?" Well,no,obviously-I have millions of things to worry about, without that as well.

In previous years I have always had at least some warning, but this time, nothing. However I did receive an email saying that my credits were about to expire, but unfortunately did not link the two together.

I've had a quick look at the Accounts page, and can't find any box that you can tick if you want a reminder that your membership is about to expire.

I don't want more direct debits, and don't trust online banking,so pay my subscription by postal note and snail mail.It took almost a week, and I couldn't post anything on here until the cheque was processed here in Australia.I did briefly consider not renewing ,as
I can't make any changes to the details on my tree without losing all the new information,so have given up using the tree facility.I decided that $33.95 for a 12 month subscription was good value-less than $1.00 a week for the social interaction , interesting posts and fun and humour on this site.I have made some good friends and contacts ,found and met relatives, and "spoken" to lots of people on here,so it makes sense to stay :-) :-)

I haven't sent an email on this to GR as yet,but will do so.

How do other people find renewing their subscriptions if they have chosen to not automatically renew? Does anyone get reminder notices?

Margot.
