At last, after more than two years, my senses of smell and taste have returned. |

Make sure you rinse your mouth after taking that inhaler... that is how I lost my sense of taste. May cause thrush in the mouth :-( |

Wonderful news, GiN. I wonder which of our senses would be the worst to lose. I rather think smell would be up there :-) :-) |

Hi, John. I think that sight would be the worst one to lose. At least I have remembered how things used to smell and taste. Funny, but when it returned, things seemed very distorted, and not what I expected, but now things are settling down. Only hope I don't wake up tomorrow and find it's all gone again. |

my dad lost his sense of smell and taste after suffering a fractured skull when he was knocked down by a motor bike when he was in his forties - it never came back - he still used to "smell" things cos he said he could remember how they used to smell |

ann that's true, because when i eat curry, i can enjoy it by rembering how it used to taste. The brain reminds you, very clever. |

Very pleased for you that your sense of smell and taste has returned and hope it's permanent, must be awful to lose these senses. We take so much for granted. |

Glad to hear your good news, reminds me of stories of astronauts gathering around whenever one of them opened a lemon wet wipe for a "hit" of a strong pleasent smell in the space craft. |

Thanks, everyone. This may just be a temporary thing due to the steroid inhaler, but it's good all the same. |
