BBC announced in the week that they intend to remake and update that wonderful series Poldark

One of the names in the frame for Ross is Matt Smith !!!!!

No no a thousand times no. Ross will always be Robin Ellis

and who on earth could replace Angharad Rees as Demelza.

My Sunday evenings were started with Poldark and then me and mates would go out.

It even made me go out and buy the books to read. :-)

Guinevere Report 12 May 2013 11:51

Matt Smith? I think not.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if they did remake with someone swoonworthy, though?

GlitterBaby Report 12 May 2013 11:52

Have to admit to never watching it

Guinevere Report 12 May 2013 11:59

I had a massive crush on Ralph Bates who was a baddie.

ButtercupFields Report 12 May 2013 12:16

I just loved that series and had a crush on everyone even Demelza :-D David Morrissey wouldn't be too bad a replacement for Robin Ellis but unfortunately I have him bagged to play Thomas Cromwell in Woilf Hall :-D

I loved the series and read the books....About four years ago I noticed they were doing a re-run on one of these sky channels, watched the first episode and was so disapointed at how dated it was, that I did'nt bother with it anymore.

DazedConfused Report 12 May 2013 15:35

Oh Jax like you I watched it some years ago and felt the same.

But I jus do not want my memories of Robin Ellis and Angharad Rees tainted with new people playing their roles.

Can not envisage any of todays actors playing these parts

AnninGlos Report 12 May 2013 15:43

Loved the series, can't think though who they should cast in a remake. I bet I would watch it though if even for the lovely scenery. I still have some of the books.

VIVinHERTS Report 12 May 2013 16:53

I could never make head nor tail of the story and must have missed episodes along the way so I was never a fan. I probably won't watch a remake.
