Thanks Wend

My friend is not up to on line shopping ... as I said, she lives alone in Wales, and I am in Norfolk ... so I am not much help ..

She tells me, the young couple that run her local off licence, go to cash and carry in Cardiff 2 or 3 times a week ... So she is going to ask them to see if they stock them

Yes Dizzi .... It is the cost that is hurting her ..... and well done for quitting

Thank you

Hi Muffy

I bought the full kit from E-Lites, but am not using them regularly. Yes, I know, very naughty of me!!

They do work out much cheaper than ordinary cigarettes though, but they are heavier.
I have a charger for the mains and also a usb charger so they can be charged on the computer!

Originally I ordered them online as that was the only way to buy them, but they are in all the supermarkets and local shops now.

I wasn't allowed to use them on the cruise ship because they do emit a vapour that looks like smoke and to non smokers it can look as though you are smoking a real cigarette. Having said that, the kit comes with two 'cigarettes', one glows red on the tip and the other glows green :-D

I really need to knuckle down and start using them regularly.

Here's the link for you to read up on them: www.e-lites.co.uk/?

Thanks so much everyone.

I have no idea if I've bought a *good* one or not but I got it from a recommendation so hopefully it'll be ok..

Got it online from the TECC website....Super Cartomizer Kit £24.99 for the kit...plus i bought some refill cartomizers and the fluid stuff...whatever that's called ...lol.

I have sold my brand new pack of 10 tobacco pouches.......and I'm down to the dregs of the previous pack ...which should I hope last til the ecig arrives.

I shall let you know when D Day arrives.

You'll all most likely hear the screams from where you are !!!! :-D :-D :-D

Some words of advice - if you have one of these e-cigarettes in your left hand, make sure your cigarette lighter is well out of reach of your right hand ;-)

Muffyxx Report 17 May 2013 13:56

Well it arrived at 10 this morning.......I still have a pouch of baccy so i wasn't intending to start right away with it......

However, having spent the morning playing about with it........I haven't even fancied a ciggie since I've used it....and I'd have had several by now...especially seeing as I've been on the phone !!!! Not sure this will be my official start stopping today day...but if I carry on feeling like I do I will do a ritual burning of all my baccy accessories sooner than I thought.

so far so good !!! :-D

Giving up smoking - wish I hadn't. Smoked for about 50 years - only naturally stopped during pregnacy.
Smoked 40/60 a day. Tried everything over the years to stop.
Had to have a double op on my foot. Doctor told me they may not take you as a priority if they find out you smoke.

Must have hypnotised myself but just stopped over night Feb 2012.
By April when I had the op was finding it hard to continue. The weight gain is upsetting.

I've stuck it out really because of the cost of fags - not for health reasons.
It is purely will power. If I won the lottery I'd go back smoking like a shot

:-D :-D :-D

France is set to ban electronic cigarettes from public places and subject them to he same tight controls as tobacco, the government has announced. The Health Minister Marisol Touraine confirmed reports that a ban would go ahead.

The move has sparked outrage among sellers and users of the battery-powered devices which contain liquid nicotine that is turned into a vapor when inhaled.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2333843/France-ban-electronic-cigarettes-public-places-subject-tight-rules-tobacco.html?ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490

I wonder if the UK will follow suit so that the Chancellor can protect the government's revenue from tobacco duty, and if nicotine is such a problem why don't they tax these food items :-S

Eggplant - the nicotine content of eggplant is 100 ng/g, eggplant is also a very good dietary source of fiber, vitamin B1, vitamin B6 and potassium.

Green tomatoes - the nicotine content of green tomatoes is 42.8 ng/g, green tomatoes are also a good dietary source of potassium, phosphorus, vitamin C, folate and calcium.

Cauliflower - the nicotine content of cauliflower is 16.8 ng/g, cauliflower is also an excellent dietary source of vitamin K, vitamin C, folate and fiber.

Potatoes - the nicotine content of potatoes is 7.1 ng/g, potatoes are also a very good dietary source of vitamin B6, vitamin A and potassium.

And here's me sitting puffing away on my VIP Electronic cigarette ;-)

Not knowing where to start looking for them in Spain, I asked at the chemist & was told "of course we sell them" as if it was the most natural thing in the world.
Ironically I had asked the doctor s couple of days previously about help to stop smoking & she prescribed tranquillisers.
Not exactly what I had in mind & after taking them for 3 days, the only difference I have noticed is that I´m sleeping like a log for 10 hours + every night. Perhaps that´s the idea. If I´m asleep, I´m not smoking. ;-)

Dermot

Dermot Report 1 Jun 2013 14:30

I was born & raised in Ireland where the air is fresh & clean,
In the village of Dureen near the town of Skibereen.

I always had the best of food & never liked the pan.
I grew up healthily & could cycle with any man.

Oh weren’t they the happy days when I was young & free.
I could dance & sing & have a drink wherever I might be.

Kathleen O’Houlihan was the girl I used to date.
But, because of unemployment, I was forced to emigrate.

It was back in 1960 that I left my childhood home
Determined to achieve success & make it on my own.

I stared work with Wimpey far from home & family
And made new friends & some enemies too across the Irish sea.

Oh well I can remember the day of my first pay.
I joined a jolly bunch of chaps down at the Travellers’ Way.

We drank some pints of Guinness but I’ll always have regrets
Because before I left that tavern, I bought some cigarettes.

For more than 40 years now, I’ve smoked 20 fags a day
Which means I’ve sent up in smoke an awful lot of pay.

I haven’t had a breakfast now for 20 years or so;
Cup of tea, light a fag & off to work I go.

The people whom I’m staying with look after all my needs;
And when I come home each evening, they put up some mighty feeds.

They really shouldn’t bother for my taste buds have disappeared;
And bacon, beef or mutton chops - they all taste kinda weird.

I met a young lad recently - he came from Donegal;
He’s a qualified accountant & thinks he knows it all.

He asked me how many fags I smoke & when I started;
I didn’t take much notice for I was trying to kill my thirst.

He took out his calculator & began to add it up;
T’wasn’t that I asked him - cheeky little pup.

And when he had finished, he looked at me and spoke;
“You have £67k pounds all gone up in smoke”.

Now, £67k is an awful lot of dough;
And to spend it on a poisoned weed is hard to take I know.

I used to think that all my friends would surely be impressed;
But now I think of all that muck I’ve inhaled into my chest.

I can never stop coughing - I even cough all night;
My eyes are kinda watery & my face is deadly white.

My memory has started failing & it’s often I forget;
Oh, what the hell about it - I’ll have another cigarette.

Sometimes I sit & dream awhile when I’m all alone;
About the days when I was young & weighing 13 stones.

I was then in peak condition for cycling was my thing;
And I hoped one day to emulate Stephen Roche or Christy Ring.

Oh God be with those happy days & things that might have been;
Had I the chance to stay at home & work in Skibereen.

Still, it isn’t emigration that’s caused my main regrets;
It’s that day in 1960 when I bought those cigarettes.

I’m lying in intensive care with my body wrecked with pain;
Oh what I would give to see my Irish home again.

In my mind, I have a vision of the fields of new moan hay;
And I see the sun ascending way beyond old Bantry Bay.

The doctor’s been to see me & his face was rather grim;
And the Matron asked me yesterday to name my next of kin.

If only I could breathe again the air I can’t forget;
I swear to God I’d never smoke another cigarette.

What the French government say and do is not always what the French people say and do, I travel to France several times a year, I was in a local village bar, One side of the bar is a newsagents and the other is a bar and they still allow smoking in the bar, The local police make no attempt to stop this and to the best of my knowledge the locals both smokers and none smokers are happy with the situation, I have visited several places in France where they still allow smoking in such establishments.

RolloTheRed - where is that report from, my understanding is that they are only going to ban them from public places and make them subject to the same controls as tobacco cigarettes.

RolloTheRed

RolloTheRed Report 1 Jun 2013 18:38

The report is here:
http://sante.lefigaro.fr/actualite/2013/05/31/20630-cigarette-electronique-bientot-interdite-dans-lieux-publics

In an interview on RTL yesterday ( in French ) the health minister said that

(a) e-cigarettes would be subject to the same restrictions as for the real thing
(b) they would be subject to the same health controls as any other product

By and large e-cigarettes are not tolerated in offices with a non=smoking majority. Cafes and restaurants are divided.

In regard to (b) the French govt is pushing hard for rapid introduction of EU health controls on e-cigarettes and will probably succeed. Such controls would also knock on the head the business of several small time entrepreneurs. The problem for them is that to get EU health clearance every last item of the product will have to be detailed and tested - could take months or years and will cost a fortune.

The e-cigarettes would not be exempt from displaying nasty pictures on the product as they contain nicotine and other cancerous substances.

E-Cigarettes face new restrictions :-|

Electronic cigarettes will be licensed as a medicine in the UK from 2016, under new regulations.

The UK currently has few restrictions on the use of e-cigarettes, despite moves in some countries to ban them.

The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency says it will regulate e-cigarettes as medicines when new European tobacco laws come into force.

Dammed interfering Nanny State & Europe - they will be regulation coffee and tea next :-| :-| :-|

Porkie_Pie

Porkie_Pie Report 12 Jun 2013 14:13

Don't be surprised by this, They are simply looking at regulation in order to justify putting a higher TAX on these products,

"they will be regulation coffee and tea next"

They already do have regulation on coffee and tea.

If it exist inside the EU then their will be Regulation but where their is none its just because they haven't got around to it yet, The list is endless and being added to every day so it will never end

On the bright side it keeps these unelected people in work and off the streets
