As long as whatever it is that they are doing does not have any adverse effect of their political obligation. I personally do not think it is any business of anyone other than the people involved.

Porkie_Pie Report 3 Jun 2013 13:52

The thing to worry about is not the "secret affair"

The thing that worries me is whats going on whilst every one has being talked about the secret affair,

Slight of hand trick ;-)

We did not see it coming because we were looking the other way?

A fantastic example of suppression of news yesterday and today. However still all over internet.

It really would not have caused much problem. It was a long time ago and would have hardly merited any comment in my view. We would not have changed our opinion of the 3 people involved.

But it would have hogged the front pages for at least 2 days. And the last thing that we wanted this week was that anything should divert attention from main story this week - Prince Philip's health.

My guess is that next Sunday's papers (or following week) will be full of it - and it will have blown over by the following Tuesday. And on the Monday George Osborne will have leaked the latest downgrading of Britain's credit rating and Teresa May will have privatised the police - sold them to Virgin Security Ltd or Fulham FC or Chelsea FC. Anyone with the money to make our national overdraft look more respectable.

Why would anyone think this wouldn't bring a lot of peoples' reputations into disrepute?

If true it isn't just an affair, it's the parties involved and their roles within the government by invitation and influence they wielded.

If there is an injunction stopping the publication of their names in UK newspapers why do you think that necessary? It's certainly not to protect them!

Thanks Island :-D :-D Nice you care about me. Will take your advice :-) :-)

SueC. The last time we were shocked by a Downing St sex revelation was Edwina "too hot to kiss" Currie. Times have moved on. If John Prescott was having a same-sex affair with Nick Clegg (which I hasten to add is not the rumour) we would not blink an eyelid these days.

A few would, I suppose. Those few who adopt a "holier than thou" attitude to sexual behaviour. But this minority would not be enough to increase or decrease the popularity of the celebrities in public eye, in my opinion. I may be wrong, time will tell, but I somehow doubt it. Public and private morals have slipped quickly down a slope (almost a precipice) in last 50 years :-( :-(
